Are these good tires?

Hi friends

My Jeep has almost 30,000 miles on it, a year and two months to the day after I bought it. The OEM Continental tires are pretty much at the end of their useful life. I don't know if they should have lasted a little longer or not, but I drive my Jeep relatively hard so I'm not surprised.

That said, has anyone put these tires (Michelin Latitude Tour HP 225 / 60R18 tires) on their Cherokee? I've got the 18" rims because it's the Limited trim. I don't know a whole lot about tires, but I've heard Michelin is a pretty solid brand. I'd appreciate any feedback on whether or not these are good quality tires and if I should go ahead and purchase them.

Any other brands that are good to consider? These Michelins start at $195 each, which isn't too bad I don't think. Price is secondary to quality for me either way, although I wouldn't want to spend any more than about $300 per tire.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Michael

I don't know about that particular tire but I have always liked Michelin when I used them in the past. We put on a set of Premier A/S on the wife's car back in February and they are doing great.

I can't answer for the Michelin, but on my former Audi A4 I replaced the Goodyear LS2 with Bridgestone Ecopia. I was more than satisfied, Smoother, quieter and a 10 %+ reduction on gas consumption .

I will definitely consider these when time to change comes up.

I've got a different size of that tire on my wife's SUV. Her's is FWD and never sees more than a gravel road (and never seen snow in its life), so I can't comment on any traction issues. But they are wearing well, low noise, and have at least 40000 on them already without complaint.

I have used Michelins on other vehicles. They have been very good. The tread pattern on the ones you are asking about do not seem to be functional for any serious off roading. The pattern is more for highway use. Just pointing out the obvious.
