I'm going to need to vent my ignorance...what the **** is a bull bar used for?

"Wha's a Jeep?"
"The Jeep's a magical dog and can disappear and things."
As his language is limited to the word "jeep,". He possesses high intelligence, so is able to help humans such as Popeye and Olive Oyl solve complex problems. He makes use of a limited form of teleportation: he can disappear from one place and reappear in another, and can walk through and on walls and ceilings. These teleportation powers are said to stem from the Jeep's ability to cross into the fourth dimension.

Nothing more than protection for the front of the vehicle - in rural parts they are used to protect a car from collisions with cattle hence the name.

To your point, these "bull bars" will cause more harm than good for anything other than the most minor of fender benders. It's really for looks only. The ones in the link and others (Shrockworks, Calmini, ARB) are the real deal.

2014 Trailhawk V6. Most options. Grand Canyon brown leather interior. - Gone

I disagree with your statement. I purchased the bar not for looks but to offer some protection against Kangaroo and Pig strikes. I live 30kms out of town and our road is infested with Kangaroos after dusk. We hit 2 pigs and one Kangaroo with our last car in the 5 years we had it. I do understand that the bullbar would offer very limited protection against 'cattle' but that's not why I fitted the bar. Almost every vehicle out here (North West NSW) is fitted with some sort of bullbar protection against Kangaroo strikes. Consider the bar as being a necessary accessory. Having said that we had the Cherokee less than a month when a Kangaroo decided to commit suicide against the front left hand wheel which in turn cost a damage bill of $2600. Yes the bullbar offered no protection in that particular situation. I hope that you can see where I am coming from.
