Question Bumper light bar installation help

Ok, so I've been going over all of the light bar posts and I can't find an installation like what I was thinking of doing. Now please be kind and don't laugh at me but this is the first vehicle I've added any mods to and I'm no engineer.

I've noticed all of the folks that added a light bar to the front bumper are using an additional steel mounting bracket which they've affixed in different ways. My question is, since behind the plastic bumper on the T-Hawk it's all metal plating back there so why can I simply not just drill through the plastic bumper, through the steel behind and affix the light bar bolts through. Would that not have enough stability since it's attached to steel and not just the flimsy bumper?

Where I'm specifically thinking of mounting it is between the sensors on the front bumper, not on the top of it like @David_Baker has but more like what @YTCherokee has. There is room to put a 20" bar there as the sensors are 23" apart. (I've attached their pictures to show the difference)

Now again, I may be way off base with my thinking so I'd appreciate any help with this before I put any holes in poor Christine.

Be cautions of even being near the sensors. The 1.5" you'll have on either side may not be enough depending on how far forward your bar site - the sensors may still "see" it and give you a constant warning. Based on what others saw when mounting the RRO bumper plates etc, even something almost flush has to have a good size hole to keep from triggering things.

3.2 V6; Cherry Red; 17" Black Wheels; Black Interior; Ventilated Cow Seat; Trailer Tow Grp; Cold WX Grp; Tech Grp; Safety Grp; Comfort Grp; Pano Sunroof; Uconnect 8.4AN; 9x Speakers; and a Partridge in a Pear Tree!
Added: RRO Step-Rails; Rage Crossbars; Rage Stingray low profile roof cargo basket
Planned: Brush Guard w/ Winch (if I can de-conflict tech & airbags)

Good to know, thanks Warloq! I haven't purchased a bar yet so I can definitely go with a smaller size.

This is pressed against the bumper and still trips the sensors. Just be warned.

Mudman1's Various LED Light Installs (Consolidated)

Here you go. Some pictures as well that I do not seem to have posted up in my threads any longer. Mine has given me zero issues, solid as a rock. Zero leaks from my wiring too. I hope this helps.

Consider keeping it simple, and fairly non-invasive and get yourself one of these:

Normally, my trucks are 1/10th the size.

That would be ideal however we don't have a front plate bracket here in the Yukon, no front plate needed. That being said, when the KL's are made, do they all have the bracket mount holes drilled at the factory in anticipation of a plate? Or are they only drilled to models that require the plate? I haven't really crawled under the T-Hawk to look closely yet.

Yea I really do like @Mudman1 's installation there but I've seen how "gucky" our headlights and fog lights get with slush and snow and I'm afraid that it'll build up under there on the light bar. That would be a pain in the keister to clean.

That's a really good point that I hadn't considered! Probably not the most secure way to mount considering the plate mount is probably only affixed to the bumper. Why we even need front plates in this province is beyond me...
