My Black Hawk emblem arrived today. Now I just have to wait for it to warm up enough to wash the KL and install it.

Gave her a quick wash yesterday to get most of the snow grime off. Installed a 32" light bar on the front of my basket. 3 smaller lights are set to go on the back. Been working on getting the controller setup the way I want. Also got my new shovel mounted, not super happy about the current mount setup so I'll probably wind up switching it around. The video below shows the lights all running, the rears are attached yet, just checking the circuit.

Sorry not sure how to embed a youtube video on here.

seeing @MarinR00's car last night in person has inspired me to do the lift gate lights (I don't know how I didn't see this thread before!) what really sold me on it is that I hook up and unhook my utility trailer sometimes at night in my backyard, and I can't really see what i'm doing at all. this mod not only lights up the cargo area, but the ground immediately behind the car as well, really making it easier to handle my trailer.

to those that have done this, a quick install question. why did you go with a switch install instead of just wiring it into the rear dome light? the dome light provides all the wiring you would need to make the lights come on with the interior lights, negating the need to hit a switch. or, even if you decide to use a switch, you could still grab power from the rear dome light, as it also has a constant 12V power source for when you want to manually turn on the lights.

i'm undecided between switch or no switch. on the one hand, wiring it into the car's interior lighting system means they come on all by themselves without the need for an additional switch, and I take great pride in my installations, I love a "clean" look. on the other hand, I don't feel that the car's computer allows a lot of time before it kills the power to the interior lights, even with a door open. wiring it into the dome light would mean I am dependent on the car's interior light timer with no way to override except for closing and opening the door. thoughts?

When the hatch is closed it fires light toward the front... drop someone off at night and get blinded via rear view mirror...

Also, dome lights eventually time out... these won't if you move the fuse.

Even if I added the switch, I would grab power from the dome anyway since the wiring needs to pass from the body to the liftgate right there anyway. There's an always hot wire that leads to the dome for when you activate the dome light manually. I don't know, I'll have to see what the wifey wants.
