Haha. Well... if you're going to lose a drag race against your wife's Ford, you might as well get a bottle of prevention...

Edit : tried to upload a pic but the forum wouldn't let me. So here it is anyway :

So with a CAI, and lets say, a different exhaust system, how does that affect (if at all) the power and torque curve compared to a stock Cherokee?

Without tuning, probably zilch.

@Mark_

I was referring to total wheel (realized torque). I know I said "3.5L" but my intention was to include the transmission in the equation. The Ford transmission keeps the engine performing optimally (flat) where the Jeep dips down hard in 3rd due to the gap in gearing.

The torque is what accelerates us. HP is to keep us going.

Absolutely! But to be completely honest I am thankful for it. Until there is another good way to move freight, we need to keep the cost of diesel low. An increase in freight cost literally touches every product and aspect of life, at times exponentially.

Of course. And on paper, a 9-speed should provide torque more efficiently than a 6-speed.

Don't forget jet fuel is diesel (somewhere up the diesel group near kerosene I think), and most trains use diesel too. And heating oil is diesel.
With the recent VW diesel fiasco - and possibly others still being investigated including FCA - the future of diesel cars and small trucks is uncertain. Too bad... I want hydrogen cell anyway, not diesel.

I wasn't saying it was bad, although when you add the word "lobby" to practically anything, it can certainly raise a few eyebrows.

Diesel Lobby
Penny Lobby
Porn Lobby

(btw, I don't know if that last one is real, but it wouldn't surprise me)

I know when I added a CAI to my Mini, it wasn't so much to add power, but to amplify the sound of the supercharger. It went from sounding like a housecat, to fricking adult Simba from The Lion King. RAWR!!!

Throttle response though did increase, so at least in my mind, it felt as though my power increased (I also installed a new catback system at the same time).

I don't recall I get spin when in "auto" mode accelerating in a straight line. However, when I make a right turn then I accelerate my tires in front does spin a little.

I like our Jeeps, but Ford is far superior when it comes to power-train and power utilization.

That was about where the cherokee lost its lust... and after 65ish..... I was left behind.
