Fuel light

Once the orange fuel light comes on is there any indication as to how much gas you have left to empty? Will you get another warning? I was too afraid to test it and couldn't find anything in manual.

I pushed it a bit, last week, wife said warning came on & she had about 40 miles left on her trip. I told her I would fuel up when I got home. Range indicator said 0, took 16.2 gallons, I learned my lesson!!

Best way to find out exactly is as soon as that light comes on, fill up the tank. The tank is 60 liters. So if it takes 50 liters to fill, you know you had 10 liters left. My manual says the low fuel light comes on when there is 11 liters left in the tank (which is a lot).

I ran out of gas before in a different vehicle and I gave myself a 15mile limit when the distance to empty is 40 just to be safe.

My friend pushed the limit on his TH the other night. We estimated 15-20 kms before he filled up.

I managed to put 60.9l in when I tried stretching it. Guess I won't try that again!

It's one of those built in redundancies..it's a idiot light to ensure you never run out of gas, 11 litres when the light comes one means at least 100kms of range...however running it that low would drag all the crap settles at the bottom of the tank through the system

Do most people actually see their low fuel lights?

I bet I see a low fuel light once every 100K miles or so. I hate to see my tank fall below 1/2 a tank, and it is a rare day when I get below a 1/4 tank.

I am not looking forward to the tiny tank of the Cherokee.

agree with that. running out of gas is not fun and embarrassing. i do not trust gages or lights that much.
