The hitch safe is interesting, but I'd bet it wouldn't survive a Canadian winter. :-)

Another option if people are stealing your hitch is to swap out the pin with a locking variety.

Having said that, I've gotten out of the habit of leaving the hitch assembly in place for long periods of time because I (and I presume others) keep bashing my shin into it when walking around back, You only have to do that once, or maybe twice, to learn a lesson.
That, plus if it's left in for too long it'll rust and seize in place. I've had two vehicles where I made that mistake, and they ain't *ever* coming back out.

I placed a weather tech step-bumper protector on the back of my TH a couple of weeks ago. If this link works it will show all of them--I used the smaller one and it is out a little further than what they show here. They are supposed to compress too if hit to further protect your bumper. My wife took a couple of times to yell at me after she hit it, but I told her to just place it in her memory it was there. I figured it might save me when going around a fast food joint if someone just tapped me in the rear. I used a 20 dollar locking pin to keep someone from stealing the 50 dollar step-bumper protector.

A beaver step might keep them from doing further damage. Add a locking pin to deter thieves.

Or if you have any welder buddies can come up with something evil out of a Mad Max movie to attach to your hitch. haha

I was originally going to get that one, but decided on the Bully instead. The Beaver would probably do more damage to whatever hit me, but would also transfer the energy to the Jeep. I'd rather sacrifice the Bully with the intent it would crumple and absorb at least some of the force.

I picked this up and really like the way it looks on the back. Wasn't thinking about protecting the back end but feel sorry for whoever does decide to tag me.
