Limited hit from behind :(

The wife got hit from behind on the way home from work. Not a lot of damage to the Cherokee, but a fair bit to the Ford. We are both fully insured and he's at fault so won't cost anything.

I nearly removed the tow hitch receiver the other day as thugs have been stealing them around the Coast, I'm glad I didn't.

Ugh. Glad she's okay and seems like everything will work out in the end, although certainly an inconvenience. Too bad there are no aftermarket steel bumpers to upgrade to

Glad you're ok, looks like the tow ball gave the other vehicle a battering.

I stopped looking at the EcoDiesel emblem. Glad she is okay. Looks like the exhaust took a bend or two.

There is a recurring theme that a) KLs seems to attract rear-enders, but b) also rebuff them regularly.

Glad the family is OK. Things can be replaced.

For your issue with hitch theft, if don't want to remove it:

I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006PPM6BA

It acts as a crumple zone if I become a target, and it's also a nice step to get up to the roof and via the Gobi ladder.

It looks to me like this was not the Ford's first day at the rodeo...seems like more and widespread damage than this bump would cause.

Glad your wife is OK and the KL took it like a champ. Hooray for tow group!

Actually, those trapezoid thingies are just decorative extensions, not part of the exhaust system directly. If you look closely at the pic you can see the actual tail pipe behind.

I'm afraid there's a bit of damage behind the plastic... I'd guess in the neighborhood of $3000 (canadian, not too far from $AUS I think).

Glad everyone is Ok, that's the main thing. We should have diesels here too, heh.

Yeah everyone is fine, thanks everyone for asking. I'm thinking about replacing hitch receiver with one of these hitch safes.

The wife has locked key fob in car 3 times over the last 2 years, so if I got the key cut that's inside the fob and locked it in the hitch. She could just dial the code and grab the spare key.

I'm just wondering after accident like that whether or not if have to get out the grinder and cut it off.
