replacing windshield - what to do with humidity sensor?

I have to replace my windshield for my Jeep 2016 Grand Cherokee. Safelite will order an OEM glass for me but I have a question: there is a humidity sensor attached to my windshield. What could happen to the humidity sensor after they replace the windshield?? Any one had similar experience before? Thanks!

I don't have the humidity sensor, but it would seem that it could be removed from the old windshield and stuck back on the new one; depending on how it is mounted. However, make sure the battery is disconnected if you unplug that (or any sensor)... The computers in these newer vehicles get cranky when they know sensors have been disconnected. Once you get the sensor hooked back up, reconnect the battery, start the vehicle, and drive for 15-30 minutes to get the system back in check. (If you just turn the vehicle on then off, you'll likely get a check engine light)

FYI, this is a forum for the Cherokee KL, not necessarily the Grand Cherokee! However, you're more than welcome to hang around. I'm sure some of the info will cross platforms.

I've had the windshield replaced by safelight. Similar to the rear view mirror, they pop it off and connect to the new glass.

It may pay to take a look at the various glass that can be ordered though, so you get the one that is compatible with the sensor and any other heating elements you have.
