Synthetic oil usually takes longer to lose it's viscosity vs regular oil. So basically I would just look at your oil life and this will most likely let you know. But if you are using a regular type of oil I wouldn't wait for 10,000 miles. I like to change my oil regardless of what type usually between 3500-5000 miles. Better safe than sorry is my feeling. Preventive maintenance kinda of thing. Pay me now a little or pay me a lot later.

My Oil indicator has been at 6% life remaining after about 7500 miles. Can anyone give an estimate on brake life? I'm at 20K and need to check, but I'm wondering when other people have had to swap pads?

No. The oil life indicator knows nothing about the actual oil in your engine. It's an engine use profile based algorithms that estimate oil life. I thinks it assumes the oil is non synthetic.

brake pads depend so much on how you drive but generally hope for at least 60k miles on pads. nice feature since the 70s is at approx 80 percent worn a metal tab hits the rotor and you hear squeking noice when NOT applying the brakes.

I recently received a mailer from my dealer reminding me it was time for my 40,000 mile maintenance. On the list was "replace lighting". Anyone have any idea what that is about?

The only recommended maintenance at 40k is in your owners manual. Its not much!
The "replace lighting" is new to me. Never heard of it. Sounds like a dealer looking to drum up extra business. Expensive business to say the least.
Our out curiosity you should call them and ask what they do for this maintenance and the cost of it. I would be interested to know.
Usually lighting gets replaced as needed only. LED's should last the life of the vehicle and halogen head lights should last a long time.

I've seen some good ones, from some service depts, but I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy this a lot. Please, do ask them for a complete list of what they want to do on your Jeep at 40K, and pleeeeze... share it with us...

As @Jeepster1 said, the only required maintenance is the one written in your owner's manual. Some service people will try and squeeze money out of unsuspecting car owners, by doing unneeded expensive maintenance. We recently read from a Cherokee owner in Australia where the dealer had a schedule for differential and transfer case oil change at 25K miles, which is ridiculous and highway robbery.

But *replace lighting* is a first for me and I can't wait to hear what they want to do... Oh and of course don't let them.
