Also remember that because you have a 9k winch doesn't mean it'll pull 9k. That pull rating is only promised when the winch line is drawn down to the drum. For every layer of winch line on the drum your pulling power drops. Keep that in mind. Case in point, my warn winch is rated at 8k on the first layer but only 5k on the third.

Keeps you from pulling yourself into what you are winching.

I truly appreciate the advice. I am not up to date on winching lol. What pulley, anchors do you recommend ?

I'd trust smittybilt, you'll want a snatch block. Some shackles, thick leather gloves. Etc. but if you buy a winch recovery bag (smittybilt has one) it should come with almost everything you need. I recommend you practice with it. Winches aren't something that you just turn on and use. They work for about 30 seconds then you have to stop and give it a break. They can overheat quickly or killed your battery, with the engine running. A winch can actually pull enough power underload to kill your battery in a matter of minutes. So, install it properly and understand that by installing a winch you can basically consider your battery and alternator warranty gone.

Wow! I didn't know that now I am second guessing it, I only will use the winch as needed Don't want to burn out my battery. Will it help if I replace the OEM battery to a larger battery?

Have you burn out your battery or alternator by winching?

I run dual winches as I've said and I've not had a problem. I've had my Cherokee for a year on the factory battery and alternator. The trick is to not abuse the system either from ignorance or neglect. Learn to use the system properly and within safe limits and you shouldn't have a problem. However a winch can pull at full capacity 500amps or more of power. Batteries are rated for 650-800 depending on which engine and year you have. Just like with anything, the harder you push it the more likely it is prone to failure. If this isn't something you'll use often I strongly recommend mounting it to the hitch.

Can the Cherokee take it? Yes in some cases. I helped a kid pull his wrangler up his driveway that was on a steep incline. I parked in the second space in his driveway. Ran my winch line to his moms wrangler in the garage, attached a snatch block then ran the winch line to his jeep. My winch was strong enough to pull his moms jeep out of the garage as I was pulling his jeep up the driveway. Winching is a game of leverage and angles. If you are good at geometry you'll be okay. Lol
