New Mexico trails

I'm going to be in New Mexico in July and am looking for any recommendations for trails.

Anyone here know good places to go?
I'll be in the Silver City area for a few days, then driving up to Albuquerque for a few days as well.

I like pushing the limits of the TH on difficulty. But I'll have my wife and two youngest girls with me, so moderate and beautiful scenery are probably the more appropriate.

Any suggestions from the NM guys would be appreciated.

I really don't know much about NM but I did the BLM byway linked below once. It is not difficult*, it is a pretty area, and it's not that far off of I-25 (near San Antonio)

I did it in my Sprinter camper van (which has good clearance) a few days after a fall snowstorm that had mostly melted away but... I hit some north facing, still wet, very nasty clay mud sections and eventually got stuck. I was totally screwed but I was prepared to wait it out (drying or freezing of the mud) as I had plenty of food/water/etc. Eventually tho, an old salty NM guy came by in a old salty Jeep (go figure!) that had a winch and along with some creative tow strap usage, managed to get me out of the slop.

* unless wet!
