So I drove out to Sheep Bridge
for a day trip yesterday. It was quite a bit more driving that expected, a little over 7 hours there and back, leaving from Phoenix. About 1/3rd of the distance was freeway/highway speeds, then another 3rd was probably around 35-40mph tops and the last 3rd was probably 1-12mph or so. None of it was super challenging, but I'm new to owning/driving anything other than luxury sports sedans, so it was a pretty new experience for me. I used 4wd low just a couple times down some hills that had a decent amount of rocks and loose gravel. I actually don't know how to rate it accurately, not having much experience.
Enough talk, the rest will be in a few photos. If you prefer an imgur album, click here
(After previewing, these pics look enormous while embedded, hope that's okay).
Trip Details, mpg was fairly low but probably from the glacial pace with a lot of hills.
It was a bit dusty on most of the road.
Random rock formation on the way (FR 24/Cave Creek Rd)
Cliffs along the way.
One of the easier parts of the road.
Fun with signs
Sheep Bridge over the Verde River
The road out
I didn't take any outside-of-the-vehicle "action" shots because I didn't really think about it/care too much, sorry. Here's a pit-stop shot at the junction of FR24 and FR269.
