Crown King, Arizona - May 24

I'm trying to get a group together for May 24th to run up to Crown King the back way. So far I think there will be a couple from the Patriot forums. Anyone here interested?

The trail generally starts on the west side of Lake Pleasant. Runs north and uphill into Crown King. It's a rough trail, but a popular one. Right at the limit for a stock FDII Patriot or stock Cherokee with ADI. Should be fine for any stock TH or ADII Cherokee.

Start early (I'm thinking meet at the trailhead at 8:00am), get up to Crown King for lunch. Head back down into town the easy way (east to I-17). Back by mid afternoon.

The trail has beautiful views, and Crown King is at 5700 feet so it's nice and cool this time of year. Good burgers, pizza, taffy, etc. in the little town.

MAN...if that particular date aligned with my 4 day weekend (get one every 6 weeks) I'd be all over it. Alas it's a couple weeks early. But keep me in mind for next time.

Will do Jethro.

Any other AZ guys interested? There's two guys from Patriot Forums.
(a FDII Patriot and, I think, a Toyota truck)

And myself.

The more the merrier.

Here's the general plan:
Meet at the big staging area by 8:30:

Or if you want to meet somewhere more convenient first and caravan to there, I will stop at the Kohl's parking lot at Carefree Hwy and I-17 at 7:30. Heading to the staging area at 7:45.

Let me see if I can rearrange an appointment I had for Saturday. I'd be very interested in participating - would be great fun. I could easily meet you at the Kohl's parking lot as I'd pass it anyway on my way to Lake Pleasant.

I should know by this afternoon!

Thanks for reaching out.

Sounds good Carefree. It would be good to see a couple of TH's make the run.

zzjdzz, we will definitely take pics... and hopefully video.

OK count us (me and my wife) in. We'll meet you at the Kohl's parking lot. Ours is a black TH.

If I was still in AZ I would join in. I have run this trail in a tacoma trd 4x4, dodge ram 1500 4x4 quad cab, jeep wrangler unlimited, suzuki samurai, and a yamaha big bear quad.

As you can tell, I love this trail. One of my long time childhood friends owns the Crown King saloon.

Have fun out there.

It's a nice trail. It's been 6 or 7 years since I've gone up it and I'm looking forward to it.

So far, we have 5 or 6 vehicles

1 Patriot
2 Cherokee TH's (myself and carefree)
1 WJ
1 XJ
1 Toyota 4-runner... just to keep the Jeeps honest.

And it sounds like most will meet at the Kohl's at 7:30.
