The '17 Forester's are supposed to be much quieter on the interior. I never considered the Forester, as I wanted more cargo area.

So far, the 2.5i OB has been about the perfect vehicle for my use. It will never win a drag race with the 3.2 TH, but it will definitely go a lot further on a gallon of gas. Getting between 25 and 28 mpg on a 50/50 mix of city/hwy driving. My wife's TH gets between 20-22mpg with the same mix of driving.

Cargo capacity is much larger on the OB compared to the TH. 25 cu ft (TH) versus 35.5 (OB) with the rear seats in upright position.

This is from a former Subie owner. We really wanted to buy a new Outback 3.5 but we bought a Cherokee 3.2 instead. The Subie beats the Jeep in resale value, reliability, fuel range, cargo capacity, stock HIDs, AWD system, (this will generate some discussion I think). It is equal in ground clearance and styling is subjective. We bought the Jeep for two reasons only. Towing capacity and 0% finacing. Since buying the Jeep I have added Xenon Depot HIDs and cargo racks to the roof. We now tow our camper trailer easily, get super fuel economy ( last 1000 km trip we averaged 7.5l/100km) ride in comfort. We are quite pleased, however we did buy the extended warranty because I do not believe Jeep can touch Subaru when it comes to reliability. Also, because we do not trail ride and did not opt for Active drive II, I think the Subaru AWD system is superior to the Jeeps. My opinion only folks but there you have it.

I forgot to add, we have 38,000 kms on the Jeep. To date we have needed to change half shafts to fix the wobble, change a front wheel bearing and will need to fix the other one soon too, and have had a sporadic CEL issue. We also have been told that the only way to safely use cruise in the mountains is to shut it off when going downhill due to the sudden acceleration when the transmission shifts down trying to keep the Jeep at set speed. None of that with the Subie. Still happy with the Jeep though guys, just saying is all.
