This is from a former Subie owner. We really wanted to buy a new Outback 3.5 but we bought a Cherokee 3.2 instead. The Subie beats the Jeep in resale value, reliability, fuel range, cargo capacity, stock HIDs, AWD system, (this will generate some discussion I think). It is equal in ground clearance and styling is subjective. We bought the Jeep for two reasons only. Towing capacity and 0% finacing. Since buying the Jeep I have added Xenon Depot HIDs and cargo racks to the roof. We now tow our camper trailer easily, get super fuel economy ( last 1000 km trip we averaged 7.5l/100km) ride in comfort. We are quite pleased, however we did buy the extended warranty because I do not believe Jeep can touch Subaru when it comes to reliability. Also, because we do not trail ride and did not opt for Active drive II, I think the Subaru AWD system is superior to the Jeeps. My opinion only folks but there you have it.
