My wife wants a Cherokee now

I have owned my Cherokee for almost 3 years. She has driven it a few times around town and on every road trip we have taken. She comments each time how much she does not like driving it. She says she cannot see in it, cannot sense the boundaries and she doesn't like the how big it is. (funny thing is she drives a 2014 Fusion that is longer and maybe wider, but sits lower)

Anyways, while my Jeep is the shop again, we got a 2016 Cherokee Sport as the loaner.

The only difference I see that would impact visibility is the 16 is an ADI. Mine is ADII and sits a bit higher.

She loves this one. She believes it is smaller and narrower than mine. Said she can see out of the windshield better and loves the ride. She wants to trade her Fusion on one.

My question .. anyone here own a 14 and 16? I am not noticing any differences between the two, but maybe if there was a side by side comparison.

Is my wife crazy? or is there a difference regarding visibility between the two model years?

Size is identical, but I will say ride height will absolutely make a lower to the ground vehicle appear smaller. Also seat height and angle, which are both adjustable will alter your view.

Maybe color differences (like white vs. granite) or interior color (both black?) could make her perceive that she has better visibility?

Hey, whatever it takes, right?....drop her in a Sport and be done! You know she'll be safe in any weather.

As far as I know its the same body frame, interior, and exterior. The exhaust pipes are the only way I can tell.
Also on the Sport take a look at the tires. Tires can add some to the percieved height on top of the AD2, I believe.
So with smaller height tires on the Sport and no AD2 it might be a couple inches. Most noticable when getting into the vehicle. Also more car like, which she may favor.
My suggestion is run with it while you can and get that 2nd Cherokee. You can even remove the AD2 from the back and deny any plausability to why she thinks its higher.

I have owned a 14 Limited AD1, 14 TH, 15 Latitude ADII, 15 TH and now a 16 TH. I like the TH as it seems to sit higher than even the Latitude ADII but I think the ADII sits at the same height as the TH. I really don't think there is any actual difference in visibility between any of my KLs. To me the little bit of difference in height would not affect visibility--especially when it is a half inch or so lower. There may be a "perceived" difference just because I like the TH better and have to have some reason to give to my wife for trading so often. If she really wants one, now would be a great time to get a 2016 if you can find one with the equipment you want on it--especially here at the end of the month.

So may sound crazy - have you compared the seat settings? Not sure about yours or the other car, but mine have a vertical height adjustment and sitting that inch or two higher can really change perspective on the hood etc -- I think much more than the body height above ground.

2015 Trailhawk
3.2 V6; Cherry Red; 17" Black Wheels; Black Interior; Ventilated Cow Seat; Trailer Tow Grp; Cold WX Grp; Tech Grp; Safety Grp; Comfort Grp; Pano Sunroof; Uconnect 8.4AN; 9x Speakers; and a Partridge in a Pear Tree!
Added: RRO Step-Rails; Rage Crossbars; Rage Stingray low profile roof cargo basket
Planned: Brush Guard w/ Winch (if I can de-conflict tech & airbags)

I thought the same with regard to the Sport .. smaller wheels/tires, but this one has the same wheels/tires that mine came with. Also was surprised to see the sport has roof rails. I thought those were upgrades not available on that trim package. As mentioned, mine is the ADII and I also have larger than stock tires. From what I can see the only difference (other than color, engine and some features) is the added height of ADII and tires. The visibility should be the same. I think she is just crazy.

I have not compared it - simply because my Jeep is still in for service and available for a side-by-side comparison. I do not know how she adjusts the seat in mine when she drives it. She did adjust the seat in the Sport to drive it and I presume she adjusted them the same.
