First Road Trip

Weekend trip to ATL from Raleigh. All Interstate driving and city driving while in ATL. The Interstate portions provided a good mix of flat and rolling hills that gave the transmission a good workout for shifting, which it did flawlessly.
I had to fiddle with the seat controls a bit to get comfortable. I'll have to read up more on the lumbar adjustments. For me I would have switched the locations of the lumbar controls and the fore/aft/recline controls. Once I found a good spot though it was all good.
The lights at night are adequate in my opinion and could be a little brighter but no real concerns there.
This thing is great on the road! It's quiet, the nav and sound system are awesome. We didn't use the wi-fi this trip, but the built-in inverter in the back was great for our son with the laptop and other devices and he was comfortable as well, and never complained for lack of space. The cargo area is definitely just adequate. The A/C is strong and we were all comfortable inside.
It was pretty warm all weekend with temps hitting 87. All temps were stable with 165 on the tranny temp and 195 on the coolant. I think we saw 207 on the coolant in stop and go driving in the city. When the cooling fans come on, you'll know it! They're not loud while you're in the car, but you can feel them, as well as see the rpm's go up.
No shifting dramas, but I will say that with our vehicle, it seems to take a little extra effort to get things moving if you're at full lock, such as in a parking lot.
I DID see 9th gear a couple times going downhill at about 83mph. I have pic for evidence I will post later. Most of the time, I had the cruise set on 75mph.
The EVIC showed a total distance of 998.9 miles with a average MPG of 29.8 or 30.0 depending on which display you looked at. Which brings me to the main issue I have with the Cherokee, and that is range. I could go further in my old 2007 Dodge Magnum (3.5 V6) than this car.
Bottom line though, for us anyway, the Cherokee is great. Handles great, quiet, powerful and comfortable. Doesn't get much better than that in my book.

Thanks for sharing! I'm hoping to take a road trip sometime in the next few months, but still waiting for the car to break-in and add on some decent mileage first (only at ~200 miles).

I'm planning a 4000 mile road trip in July from Iowa to Oregon and back. Hope she holds together.

My TH(with the tow package) averaged 23.9 MPG from Florida to Michigan. Cruise was set at 79 most of the trip.

Finally saw 9th gear as well this weekend. Was doing ~80 mph to get around some knuckleheads going 60 in a 70 zone, and while coasting down to 73, I saw the tach drop to 1500 RPM and when I pulled the shifter to the left, lo and behold, the elusive 9th. My wife could not understand my elation in that brief moment, but it was like spotting Bigfoot! Now, I know it does exist.

Also on this trip, I got over 300 miles on a tank and know that the "low fuel" warning light works as well. Winning!
