Just wanted to say hi. I posted in the intro thread. Ordered a 2015 TH last weekend. I would love to get out to the badlands or silver lake sometime next spring. I live in Dundee. Where's everyone else from?

loaded question .. depends on multiple factors. what vehicle/engine? has it been broken in? how loaded down will it be on your trip? roof rack? towing? Summer or winter driving.

I have had my V6 Lat ADII two years and 8 days. It has been on multiple road trips (family vacations loaded down - not towing/nothing on roof) through mountains and up and down the East coast.

Prior to full break in, I was seeing 8-12 mpg, which was disgusting (after what I have seen about winter temps keeping the vehicle in full time 4dw, I accept the low numbers a tad better). After about 4K miles, I saw mileage in the 18-22K range. Somewhere around 6K, I had consistent 24-26 mpg local and 32-36 mpg on the highway.

I still see a drop when the temps are consistently below 30 degrees (remember full time 4wd), but warmer than that I have pretty darn good mileage with this Jeep.

if the 4 is anything like the 6, it is not broke in yet. This was, BY FAR, the longest break in period I have ever experienced ... 25 plus cars and built engines.

I would say you could/should expect an increase with another 2.5-3K miles on the ODO.

Anyone know where there is some easy offroading trails by the Illinois/Wisconsin border?

No, but I'm also looking. Planning on going south to the Badlands in Indiana at some point, but it would be nice to go a shorter distance to Wisconsin.

I'm actually starting to get interested in overlanding. Want to setup a simple day trip to practice the navigation pieces, and to work out equipment issues in a low-risk situation.

If anyone in northeast / north central Illinois would be interested in exploring the idea, let's talk.

I was thinking a day trip (no longer than 5-10 hours, from the point at which we arrive at the site).

I'm completely new to overlanding, but an old timer when it comes to camping. I'm just out of practice.

Anyone in the chicago area want to go out to cliffs offroad this sunday December 17th?? Myself and a member from the renegade group are meeting up and I think it would be a good idea having both models out there for a day of offroad fun.

Really anytime, even hitting the road in the early morning. My Saturday is wide open.

This will be my first time, so if you'd rather not have a first timer that's cool, just say so.

Hi everyone! I'm relocating from Wichita, KS to Charleston, IL. My wife just took the Head Volleyball Coach position at EIU and we are moving in the next few weeks. I have a 2017 High Altitude ADII and I'm looking forward to doing some off-roading. Would love to connect with some of you.
