Talking Rausch Creek 5/20/17

Hello all...

We are heading out to Rausch Creek to wheel with the KL on May 20th and would love to have y'all along.

We will be running largely green with some likely touches of blues, although our intention is to pick ones with green bypasses (no guarantees). We do not plan an on this being an educational oriented day, but by no means does this mean a rookie wheeler is not welcome. We have led and helped plenty of new off-roaders and have no problem with it.

If you haven't been to RC the place is pretty rocky (even on the green trails). So with that being said, you should be okay with some rock rash on the wheels and you will put skid plates to use. While our goal is always for everyone to leave with a perfectly operating vehicle, things can (and do) happen so this is my obligatory "go prepared" message.

We do have some requirements....
  1. Every passenger must have an operation seat belt and use it when they are in the Jeep.
  2. You must have front and rear recovery points
  3. Please have your own recovery strap, 20-30' is nice. It should NOT have metal hooks.
  4. Bring a good attitude and be ready to have fun.

Lunch will be on the trail so please also have food and drinks to get you and your passengers through the day.

If you have any questions please feel free to post up. Hopefully you can join us!

I will try to keep this list of "going" current:

I'd love to go, and I'm even off that weekend! But I just can't do the 8hr drive there and back! (Especially since I'm driving 10hrs to Ohio two weeks later!)

What's funny about this is we live in Ohio and drive 8 hours to get there

We understand though.

****... i'll be in Fairfax Va, only 2 1/2 hours away, but the whole "very rocky" thing killed me. I just like to drive around on dirt roads, don't want to mess up the paint

Edit: Looking at videos and it doesn't look too bad, i am worried about the vinyl i've got on the outside though, don't want that to peel off. Looks gorgeous, might just come along and drive about and watch you do the "other" stuff

Interested, but definitely won't have my rock rails before that.

I have another event tentatively in the planning stages that day, but if it falls through I'd be happy to join. We go up to Rausch multiple times a year in the KL, so I'd be happy to provide some input on trails and obstacles for the route while up there if needed as well.

It is definitely doable without rock rails, though there tends to be some uncomfortable plastic sounds made, but the plastic rockers are surprisingly durable.

I drop my truck off on the 11th to get the engine mounts replaced and as long as that is completed I am game.

Sorry, I subscribed to this thread, but only for daily updates...

To answer a few questions... Rausch Creek is in Tremont, PA. It is an awesome offroad park with a very diverse terrain.

Our intention is never to take on any damage (especially body), but our experience is that it is tough to avoid some wheel rash unless you avoid anything technical. We always try to spot people on the best line for safety of the occupants and the vehicle, but things can happen. We go to RC several times a year, at lest one time a year we host a "Rookie Run", the others we push things pretty hard on Red trails. Our personal intention for this trip is to explore the limits of our KL a bit, this said, we hope to do this on trails with some bypasses. We picked RC for this because the trails are maintained well and "pin-stripes" are less common than other places like Windrock, TN.

We may have some other vehicle makes along with us so this will likely not be an exclusive KL event.

I may be misunderstanding some of you, but I don't see any for sure "add to the list" people. If I am wrong, I'm sorry, just let me know and I'll add you.

Hope this helps.

.
