Opinions/Comments wanted on Jeep Dealers in NJ

Hey guys,

Just wanted to get some feedback (opinions or comments) in regards to two dealers that I have been playing phone tag with over the past week or so.

http://www.cherryhilljeep.com/index.htm

and

http://www.lucaschryslerjeepdodge.com/index.htm

I have done some research online reading reviews but I would rather hear from you guys. Anybody from the tri-state visit and/or purchase a Jeep from one of these dealers? Thanks in advance.

I can't comment on either as they are South/Central Jersey however my cousin bought his Wrangler from Cherry Hill Jeep and had no complaints. No real raving reviews either. He's also military so I expect between USAA (I used USAA as well and it helped a lot) and actively serving, his experience was a quality one to begin with.

If you're willing to come farther north I can recommend David at Fullerton in Somerville. They aren't rolling out the red carpet for you but if you are prepared and know your stuff, they won't try to pull a fast one. We locked a price in via USAA and got a good price on my trade in. Same deal; nothing negative to report and I won't go out and say 5 star service or anything either. I walked away feeling like the deal was fair and everything was in order. Pluses were free tank of gas, oil changes, and plates/tags/title on the spot no waiting (DMV is next door).

I searched all over the state last winter when stock was fairly limited. I used USAA as well, but looked at TrueCar and a few other buying programs. I had limited interaction with Lucas because they were unable to find the options I wanted. I had a great experience working with Lou A. at Flemington Jeep. He was fair, treated us with respect, and didn't play the games that some of the other dealers in the area did. We got a full tank of gas, three oil changes, and had our new plates within a week.

When I started looking from my Trailhawk I had some preliminary phone/email conversations with Cherry Hill. I got a bad vibe as the person I spoke with was trying too hard to get me to come in without first wanting to talk about any of their specific vehicles. After reading some of the reviews on cars.com and dealerrater I decided to go elsewhere. I ended up buying from Flemington CDJ. I had a great experience. If it isn't too far out of the way for you I would recommend them.

Thanks for the feedback guys, quick question about USAA. That's only for people who are in the military right? Can non military people become members and use their car buying services? I checked out their website and it lets me sign up even though I'm not military.

I think USAA just uses a special branded portal of True Car. You'd probably get the same deals visiting truecar.com.

Yes. The price with TrueCar and USAA is about the same. The big difference we noticed was that USAA had cheaper extended protection plans than Chrysler. We got the dealer to match the USAA price and saved quite a bit of money on a Chrylser MaxCare plan.

Correct. USAA is for military/military family and they use Truecar essentially.

I was at Lucas and don't plan to buy there. What Cherokee are you looking at there, They claim to be at invoice price. I asked for the sales pitch of the Cherokee and was told by the guy i was talking to that he did not know anything about them and failed to offer to get someone that did. Either way did not matter because we knew what we wanted. However, they are refusing to move on their price and gave me a super low offer on my trade in. The one we wanted had about 60 miles on it, lots of test drives under its belt.

We are now buying else where for a lower price without having to go back and forth on the price.
