Western Canadian Pricing

Just about to pull the trigger on a new TH factory order. I was able to get an offer for @ invoice, which I'm happy with.

I see our American neighbours are able to get less than invoice, but don't see a lot of talk about pricing North of the border.

What's the typical price that members have been able work out? Below invoice, at invoice, 3% above, MSRP?

My Dealer does not make a lot of money on new car sales. Used cars are where they make their money. For me and my TH, they started at invoice, and subtracted any running promotions + my Veteran deduction + my trade-in. Their hope is to give me the least amount for my trade-in as possible, so that they can make up for any loss + profit when the resell my trade. I built my TH on the web, and assigned it to my Dealer. I was preapproved by Chrysler (0%) financing and I got what I wanted for my Journey Crossroad. I have been told that Dealers can get a couple of % points on a sale if they work closely with the finance company; I don't know this to be true. And, dealers do not pay the "invoice price". So, buying at invoice price, the dealer is still making money. I absolutely hate the art of purchasing a vehicle. My TH is the first vehicle I have ever purchased, not buying off the lot, but getting exactly what I wanted; actually, more than I wanted; I'm still a happy camper. I got MT (must have), sunroof (love it), black wheels (head smack; what was I thinking?) and tech pkg (still getting used to it!) and cold weather pkg (don't need it; I have a garage). I have used the remote start twice, just to see if it works.

Had a look at the US and Canada Jeep websites. In Canada, there are no cash incentives, but we get 0% @72 months. In the US, there is $4500 in cash incentives with 4.04% interest @72 months.

In Canada, my build would be $613/month with $1000 down. If we Canadians had the cash with the higher interest rate, the monthly would be $621.

Also, my build in Canada is $41,000 MSRP. The same build on the US site is $35,815 MSRP. Converting the US price to Canadian dollars works out to $48,937! On the flip side, converting the $41,000 CAD to US comes to $30,000 US MSRP.

My build at invoice (TH with cold weather, trailer tow, cherry red, alpine speakers) is $38,600. Converted to US that comes to $28,252 US plus taxes with 0% interest financing.

I guess we have nothing to gripe about.

Well, if you want to go that route.... -40 C, rain (Vancouver), price of electronics, our NHL teams in the playoffs, cost of housing/food.

Probably you should consider budgeting another $8 to $10k for extended warranty(mostly for the 9 speed trans), mud mats, winter tires, 3M rock cover film in front, winter tires, hitch, roof rack, after market lights, "wife's" extra 3rd key fob and other favourite upgrades.
The dealer has a lot of negotiation space in the extended warrantee.
Amazingly the Mopar parts department can be cheaper than others for after market rims and pressure sensors and even roof rack cross bars.
The 3M and undercoat are profit centres for them.

Dealer quality and price seems to vary wildly - with this vehicle it probably pays to patronize a dealer with a top notch service staff over one that is slightly cheaper but has poor tech knowledge.
Some Vancouver dealers are lower priced and I have mostly gotten a better first price going through an auto broker but post sales service never seems as cheery.

Sales coordination with the service and parts Dept seems badly siloed in comparison to my favourite Ford dealer Coastal. So don't count on sales to coordinate service to actually do any post sales / pre - pickup mods that you arrange.

Destination in North Vancouver has been around for a long time and weren't cheap, even at end of year, but they claimed they did every recall and service upgrade on their stock vehicles and my 2015 hasn't given me any serious problems or even the litany of pain some have experienced from having their earlier year models constantly in the repair bay on successive minor recalls.

Kamloops Chrysler solved one of my trailer wiring problems in record time compared to some of the others having the same work done on this forum. I think FCA weeded out most of the semi competent dealers rather well about 10 years ago in Western Canada vs USA.

Ending up getting 1.7% below invoice as per the "invoice price" in the CarCostCanada report and was able to lock in the low finance rate being currently offered. A $1,500 factory incentive cashback is now being offered as well. If that incentive (or more) is still being offered upon delivery, I'll be at least 5.5% below invoice.
