Greetings!

I have put together a budget boost kit for our vehicles.

This kit has been tested with 4x4 models only at this time. It may function with FWD vehicles, but has not yet been tested.

Kit provides between 1.25" and 1.5" of lift to the vehicle. Installation can be done in a few hours or less, with basic mechanic tools. Spring coil compressors are usually required for installation, and can be rented at most auto stores.

Kit includes:

- 4 Spacers, two for each rear wheel. Spacers are made of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW). Spacers are cut, drilled, and painted black.

Spacers are available in these sizes:
  • -3/8" - Provides ~1.25" of lift. Recommended for AD1 equipped vehicles.
  • -Combo - One of each main size, gives ~1.45" of lift. This most evenly matches the lift of the front of the vehicle gained by this kit.

- 2 sets of nut and bolt for the strut adjustments, choice of either factory parts, or grade 10.9 Steel. Steel is recommended as it is reusable, where as OEM bolts are one time use and should be replaced any time they are removed.

- 20mm guide spacer, a small part that fits on the strut to show the correct spacing, in case the flange plate on the strut is missing or damaged, as some seem to be, and to simply hold the strut in the correct position while adjusting, drilling, and tightening.

-Instructions/write-up, including pictures.

Fabrication is done in my shop, so it may not look as pretty as laser cut plastic or aluminum, but this material is tested, so if you don't mind the occasional rough edge, this is a pretty darn cost effective way to get a lift on our vehicles.

Just kidding. We offer them in aluminum too, though it is a bit more expensive. They look beautiful.

Cost is 64$USD + Shipping. Shipping continental US is 7.50$. International shipping is available, and runs between 25 and 40$ in most cases.

Turn-around time:

Depending on volume of orders, it can take 2-3 weeks for shipment, though I will be trying to keep kits in stock to have on hand for rapid shipment. Kits are shipped via USPS Priority, and typically arrive within 3 days within the USA.

To order:

Shoot me a PM with:
  • Full Name
  • Shipping Address
  • E-mail address
And I will get an invoice out to you via the e-mail address provided. When the invoice is paid, it moves in to the queue, and otherwise ships as soon as a kit is available. Tracking info is sent via e-mail when order is processed for shipment.

Alternatively:

Visit the website and place your order. Use discount code JCCORDERS to receive the forum pricing.

If you have questions, feel free to ask away. This lift is a customized version of the "Aussie" lift, and the methods of installation are very similar, in case you'd like to research that a bit as well.

RRO is wrong... it can be done, but they don't feel they can make enough money off of lifting these. It uses spacers to raise up the rear springs, and the front is as simple as moving the strut in the mounting bracket. Took me and a buddy less than 2 hours to do.

RRO and all others are interested in a 2+ in lift they can sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars. They are not interested in this style of lift as there is not enough money in it.

This is simply increasing the ride height of the rear by 2 x 3/8 in spacers (one above and one below) and reloacting the position of the front strut in the knuckle. All dreamed up in Valpacers garage using bits he had in the shed.

Total net lift is around 30mm or 1.25 in, plus anouther 12mm or 1/2 in from larger tyres. Not enough for the likes of RRO or ARB etc. And its acheived with $50 of parts...

When I first put the lift on, I could definitely tell it was taller... when you get in, you have to sit up a touch higher... your view out the windshield is a bit taller, and the tennis balls hanging in my garage hit early now.

Aside from that, I really cannot tell they are on there... Driving characteristics are still the same... I still drive as aggressively as before... you can hear the tires ever so slightly with the radio and air off around 35-45 mpg, but then it goes away. They might slow my acceleration down a touch, but that is probably just my imagination... which brings me to my next answer.

I did get larger tires. I have tires that are basically 1.1" taller and 1.1" wider (265/65R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac). They are the "largest" (maxing out width and height) tire you can put on without trimming plastic and metal. You can go with a slightly taller tire the same width as the stock tire (245/70R17) without rubbing as well, but if you add the width it won't fit without grinding. Supposedly you can fit upwards of 31" - 32" tires if you remove the plastic wheel liner, grind the metal pinchweld, and (possibly unnecessary) add wheel spacers (different than the spring spacers that lift the vehicle, these would push your wheels out from the hub).

Sorry for such a long answer... I just got forum access back for my computer and remembered how much easier it is to type with 10 digits instead of just thumbs...

Alright folks, for those of you that have placed orders so far, everything is squared away except the UHMW, which is being delivered on Monday.

I want to thank you all again for your support. I'm finding I have to constantly order more supplies to keep up with demand. My OEM parts dealer knows me by name, and the bolt company changed me from "low-volume" to "medium-volume".

Also, My UHMW supplier now offers full black UHMW instead of grey, so most kits will ship with the new stuff for the 3/8" spacers. 1/2" is still going to be grey, painted black, until my supplier gets the other stuff in stock in a few months.

Yep, your invoice went out this morning.

I just put an order in by PM last night, paid this morning, and am now eagerly awaiting production. :) Thanks, Hazzard - this is an extremely reasonable upgrade, and should be very straightforward to put on.

Bradley

Received your payment; much appreciated!

I'm still expecting the UHMW delivery, and a fresh bulk order of hardware, on Monday, so Tuesday will be my day in the shop.

I actually have been working on a new design for the spacers, which will look a little different, with some flatter edges instead of the full circle, but actually has 10% more surface area, and is way way easier to fabricate.

I need to pull apart my suspension and see how the new design works on the top isolator, but it works beautifully on the lower, and worst case scenario the kits will ship with the new design for the lower, and the original for the upper.

At the moment its a mix. I have black 3/8" UHMW arriving tomorrow, so all kits that have not shipped yet will have black 3/8" UHMW. Kits will ship with "natural" colored UHMW for the 1/2" size spacers, and those will be painted. My supplier is working to get me the black 1/2" stuff, but its on backorder, so I could get it next week, or I could get it next month :/ Once it arrives, I'll sell through my stock of natural 1/2", then start shipping everything with the black stuff.

Did a test fit of the new design this morning. Have a look:

All in all about 20 minutes for me to swap out the spacers. The fit is wonderful though perhaps not as clean on the top isolator as circular spacers. Either way this will be the process I use going forward, and images and instructions will be tweaked to reflect.

Materials scheduled to be delivered today, so I'll be spending all day tomorrow in the shop!

Update time!

The big slab of 3/8" UHMW arrived and I got it cut down to size. It was a monster to work with, as last time I had a buddy cut it down to 2'x1' sections for me. This time around it was all one piece. Here is one half of it on my poor overworked table saw:

I got all of it cut down to the right size for spacers, so now they get bored and finished. I got enough done today to cover all current orders on the 3/8" side of things with plenty to spare!

The black 1/2" stuff is still backordered, so I'm still painting the white stuff for those. Once the paint dries I'll have about half of the orders currently placed shipped, with the rest following by end of week, Tuesday at the absolute latest for some of the orders placed very very recently.

Here's a side by side of the 1/2" spacer painted, and the natural black 3/8".

Updates to come, so keep an eye on email for tracking updates.

Ultimately after I gets these current orders shipped, new orders will go out within 2-3 days! Now that I am about to have some stock built up, I can get back to welding that secret thing I've been working on. Stay tuned :)

Oh yeah, my next project is a cloth tonneau cover. It's still a prototype, but it coming along nicely. It's pretty basic, and I know a lot of folks may have the factory one, but it's a low cost alternative for those that just want to keep the trunk contents away from prying eyes, or harsher sunlight or whatnot.

Now I played the semantics there and know you want to know about the *secret project. One other forum member knows about it, and until its ready I don't want to put much info out there as it may turn out to be a terrible idea and I scrap it. But if you want an ambiguous picture I can take one when I get home today :)
