Add-On Recovery Hooks for NON-TRAILHAWK Models

There is already a brush guard for KL Cherokees.

I'm in, BTW. Gathering funds at the moment.

Add-On Recovery Hooks for NON-TRAILHAWK Models

Eh, kinda. If you're referring to the one I'm thinking about, it's more of a bull bar/push bumper than a brush guard. I'm looking for one that protects the whole front bumper though... just don't know if it would be feasible.

As far as breakaway/crash safety... I have not had the opportunity to test the front impact with the brackets installed... However, if someone would be willing to loan me their KL, I would be glad to test out the design in a front impact. LOL, JK.

That is seriously something I was looking at, as the original metal parts that I replaced were designed to crumple in a crash. The posts I use do not have any type of breakaway or crush-tech built in as I don't know how to do that without degrading their strength to a point where they will be useless. Therefore, in the event of a front-end crash, the brackets will likely do some punching into whatever they hit. With that being said, I do not think that it will be a major issue, or be capable of causing any life-threatening injury in an accident. The posts themselves are a little less than 8" long, and only about 3-4 inches of that is past sturdier parts of the car such as the radiator or bumper.

In the event of a head-on crash, the brackets may cause damage to the front end of the opposing car, but I think it will be negligible. In the event of a side-impact crash (T-Bone) with the KL hitting the side of another vehicle, once again, I do not think they will extend far enough to cause any appreciable harm more than what will be done by the overall accident.

On a side note, as far as distance the hook extends out from the bumper... I have been looking at the possibility of having the hook extend further if desired by a purchaser. I should be able to extend them another 1/2", but any further would not be possible with the hooks I used on mine.
omg we got in accident look what your tow hooks did to my vehicle..lmao.. umm its an accident there will be damage..some of those th owners ..lol. its a freakin vehicle.if i was going to spend 36 to 40 thousand on a vehicle it would not be a trailhawk..more like a lifted rubicon ....no offense to th owners...just my perspective and opinion..

Parts on the Way!

For anyone who has already ordered a kit, I have placed an order with Fabrication to have a few of the kits made up. I have made a modification to the design in that I am using a thicker steel for the base plate and per suggestions, have added a spacer inside the post to strengthen it.

Once the kits get back to me, they will be painted and prepped for shipment. Let me know if anyone else is interested!

While your position is amusing, it's clear you've spent more time mocking THs than learning about their parts. The front hook design/mount on a TH is set up so that it doesn't punch into something and either pushes in or breaks away; it's truly a one way for pulling only. The question was asked because this design won't do that and while remote, there is a chance this vehicle could now 'hook' another car and stay attached - making an accident much worse than it could have been. Accidents happen to any vehicle; but if an an aftermarket (or esp homemade) mod can be linked to making it worse, you just bought both packages, probably regardless of insurance. You might want to add the word liability to your perspective/opinion.

2015 Trailhawk
3.2 V6; Cherry Red; 17" Black Wheels; Black Interior; Ventilated Cow Seat; Trailer Tow Grp; Cold WX Grp; Tech Grp; Safety Grp; Comfort Grp; Pano Sunroof; Uconnect 8.4AN; 9x Speakers; and a Partridge in a Pear Tree!
Added: RRO Step-Rails; Rage Crossbars; Rage Stingray low profile roof cargo basket
Planned: Brush Guard w/ Winch (if I can de-conflict tech & airbags)

Lol, I should make you pay more for making more work for me! Ha ha, JK as well.

You're still gonna want them raw steel correct? No paint on the bracket? (The hooks come black from the source so I can't change that...)

That is correct, I will have them powder coated locally. I should have the funds Friday when my bonus money hits.

Unfortunately, as you said, liability is possibly increased with any aftermarket additions to a vehicle. That risk is gonna be present on any type of modifications done to a vehicle, whether it be headlights, lift kits, bumpers, steel beams sticking out of the front, etc...

Hopefully everyone who makes any *ANY* modifications to their vehicle understands that they are assuming all risks and liabilities to both themselves and other vehicles and drivers that they may interact with.

And hopefully we never have to find out how these handle in a crash scenario!!!

Ooh, bonus money!!! I'm honored that you're spending it on my tow hooks and not something like tires or lights! Ha ha

Just PM me when you are ready and we will discuss price w/o paint. As mentioned before I can't take off too much cause I don't have much in the paint cost. Most is in the fabrication and hardware. (And now spacers... Lol)
