What brand of wax are people using on the clear coat? How about protectant on the black plastic trim?

My good friend is a pro detailer, had him Opti Coat our SRT JGC and will definitely have him do the trail hawk when it gets here.
I love that I can hit the GC with the pressure washer and 90% of the crud comes right off. The rest doesn't take any effort to get off. Had him do the wheels and red calipers so they come clean without any huge effort.

Plus the pro version of Opti will last for years.

I generally use Mequiars Gold Class Car Wash and their Ultimate Quick Wax spray wax after washing. The spray wax is so simple you just buff it in (no white residue) in one step and you can wax the vehicle in about a half hour. Looks great. So easy to use that you can use it once every couple of months after washing and build up a good layer of protection. That's what I do. I used that on my 02 Yukon that I traded for my Cherokee and that Yukon looked like new even though it was 12 years old. I've got the pictures to prove it.

I used Turtle wax "Ice" (spray) for the first wax. It goes on fast and just wipe and lightly buff and I'm done. Incredible shine. For 45 minutes including the door jams it was faster than the old past wax.
When it gets warmer I have a bottle of Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax, which I really want to try out. As from the directions will take a little longer but should last longer.
I also used Blue Magic Headlight lens sealer on the plastic lenses for protection.
The forum has been a great help in understanding types of wax to use on a new finish.

Also now using Aero cosmetics Wash Wax All when not too dirty. Great UV protection and easy on/off like ICE. It works well on the plastic bits too. I bought it for my expensive motorhome based on RV recommendations, and have not been dissappointed.

I have tried all kinds of wax, and while there are many good ones, I strongly recommend any wax by Collinite. It is not as well known, and no where near as expensive, as others, but I think it is the best. My favorite is Collinite Insulator Wax, which has been used for years in the aerospace industries. It may not sound like a car wax, but it is the perfect wax for cars, especially if you live in a winter climate. I have waxed cars in September that keep beading thru winter months into spring, and I live in upstate New York lake effect snow country. It is a liquid wax that goes on easy and wipes off easily (just don't put it on too heavily - a light coating is all it takes). I know professionals in the area that won't use anything but Insulator wax. It is extremely long lasting, and second coats of other wax products won't hurt it. Try it. If you can't find it, try going to www.autogeek.net.

Last weekend I spent 4-5 hours detailing the **** out of Black Betty
- Washed her using two buckets (Meguiars gold class wash)
-dried using large microfiber towels
-Nano glide and Nano Skinned every painted surface
-polished all painted parts with Meguiar's ultimate polish
-waxed (2 coats) using Meguiars ultimate liquid wax

unfortunately, it rained two days later, and with the amount of yellow dust (pollution from China) that we get here, she now looks like I took her on a lite offroading adventure... rain here looks like mud...

I use Eurotech E7000. I LOVE this stuff. I can wax my truck in about an hour... I wax the entire truck and then go back and take it all off. No dust, no white stuff left behind.. Plus it gives her a nice deep shine!

Hi All - I use Mothers Back - to - Black for the exterior trim. Started using it for my Volvo Cross Country that had a lot of exterior plastic trim. Restored it beautifully on first application and only use every several months following a wash.

I think I'll follow @rt-texas and try Meguiar's Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer for the exterior black plastic trim; but it looks like there's lots of good options.

I finally got around to washing and waxing my Cherokee (I'm definitely not a weekly washer - one of the reasons I choose white for the exterior color). I didn't know what to do with the TH hood decal, so I went ahead and waxed it - the result was crap.

I did a quick web search on protecting car decals and one of the suggestions I saw mentioned a few times was Meguiars Gold Class Trim Detailer (good for flat black paint and vinyl graphics).

My suggestion would be a sealant first and then wax over top for extra kick. The Collnite products are great, use the 845 liquid wax during the spring/summer season and for snow that just slides off the paint use the double coat paste wax for fall/winter. Just ensure with the Collnite it goes on so thin you can barely see it, or you will have bigger muscles after removing it.

Just used Meguair"s Ultimate Wax (polymer wax) today. Was very happy with results ..went on with minimal effort (no white residue)..very noticeable difference in the Granite (really seemed to deepen the color !!)
My Latitude only has 127 miles (purchased last week) so it did not require a deep cleaning wax.

Just my 2 cents.....:)

I am curious about what 3M has, has anyone used it? 3M Synthetic Wax It's supposed to bond to paint and add durability but offers a comparably lower gloss than others. It's also purportedly lower on cleaning agents. Sounds good for a new car to me...

I used Meguaire's cleaner wax on my last vehicle, of high mileage, and liked it well enough. I haven't waxed the new Jeep yet because I'm hesitant to find the best product for new paint. Maybe there isn't much mystery to it than I'm making it. Some say use a glaze not a wax, others say don't wax at all. I like the idea of having the "sacrificial layer" to protect the clearcoat, I just need to settle on the right product.

Tire dressing

I haven't found a tire dressing yet that doesn't suffer from tire sling unless you let it sit forever to dry. Anyone find something that works?

Rejex Was developed for Aerospace. Do once about every 4 months. Do not have to buff out wipe on wipe off. Stuff is amazing on the black pearl coat after 12 hours. Pricey but worth it in my option. I can pick it up a a few True Value Hardware store around NE Ohio. I use it on every car and Bike I own

Use Dupli color tire shine on ties and plastic trim last about 3 weeks.

I am in no way affiliated with either of the companies just love the products. Just like every Jeep I ever owened .Wish they made a Bike :p

I decided to use Meguair's Ultimate synthetic liquid wax, was too impatient to order the 3M synthetic stuff. Either is recommended for new cars / new paint. It is supposed to be a sealant and protector with mild cleaning agents compared to waxes intended for extra shine.
