First Wash/Wax on the TH yesterday and of course it rains/hails today

Finally made some time yesterday to wash/clay bar, and wax the TH. After 100 miles or so of dirt roads last weekend, there was a lot of red sand that needed to go! It looked great after finishing...but of course overnight it rained. Sometime when it rains here, it pulls all sorts of s$%* out of the atmosphere and leaves not just water spots, but dirt caked water spots. Of course this morning it then decides to hail. Never fails.

For all you detailing experts out there, what is the best way to quickly clean the dirt off tomorrow evening? I obviously don't want to go through the whole process again. I was hoping to just rinse and dry or throw a bit of soap on if necessary. I have never cleaned a car to the level I did yesterday, so I am not sure what is needed/necessary. Hoping to get it back to the shine I put on it!

I used Meguiar's Liquid Gold Soap, Meguiar's Clay Kit with the detailing spray as lubricant, and Meguiar's Gold Class Premium Quik Wax.

A couple pics of the final product:

Thanks in advance for the advice!

One tip I learned in the process: for the dirt that makes it inside the door, but outside the seals (door jam's, etc.), I used a watering can to pour water down all the seams and most of the sand rinsed right out. No need to spray it with a hose and fight getting water in the car. Obviously with mud, it will be a whole different story. Anyway, worked like a charm.

Mothers makes a spray on quick detailer made specifically for this, it's like a liquid wash and wax in a bottle for only $10. it works very well and doesn't do any damage to the clearcoat or paint when it's done right. It works like a dream, hope this helps! The TH looks great by the way!

Agreed on that. I used it on my wrangler and wifes ranger. Just use a clean soft towel or rag. Spray on....wipe off...Or you can get a shammy...hose down the car and wipe. Usually work's that way as well. Just don't rinse in direct sunlight when it's hot. (Don't forget to shake well before using)

Hello everyone,

I apologize for hijacking this thread but could someone explain the use and benefit of clay. I have never done this and unfamiliar with it.

Thanks,

Stuart

Clay is used to remove contaminates in the paint surface - mainly "rail dust" or brake dust that gets imbedded during transport. One of the best preps before wax/sealant. The process should be done about one a year for the average auto. (can also be used on glass) Also great for touch up to remove water spots, overspray, of just about anything that is on a paint surface.
On light colored cars you may actually see little rust spot which is the metal particles rusting (not the car) - there is a thread here somewhere showing these spots.

For those that really want to check...take a plain plastic sandwich bag and place it on your hand and lightly run it over a painted surface on you car and note how rough and grainy it feels ...now clay and repeat. Difference is almost unbelievable.

Wash it with MeGuiars Gold Class soap( they actually call it shampoo and conditioner ), dry, and stand back and admire the shine. It is very good stuff and will not hurt the wax. It actually has stuff in it that helps preserve it. You can feel it on your hands after washing. Best car wash product I have ever used. Even smells awesome.
