Hi all!
Had an interesting thing happen to my truck on Wed. :|
Pulling up to lights at about 30km/h and then ping ping ping! First dash message says Transmission in Limp (or similar), then 4WD temporarily disabled, then ASR disabled. Engine Check light on.:surprise:

So, pulled away (in 4th gear) to other side of intersection. Switched off and opened door. Restarted and all well except for the engine check light. Drove for 10 mins and left the car off for 1/2 an hour. Restarted and check light gone.

Had it scanned at the dealer and they found a list of about 6 things that basicly said there was a droput in communication between a couple of computers.:nerd:

My ScanGuage showed a code of U100 but the car showed 'No Stored Codes'.:|

Anyone had similar?

TIA. Oliver:wink:

sounds like a loose connection in a wiring harness somewhere temporarily caused a loss of communication in the CANBUS system. it might happen again, and it might not. if it doesn't happen again and is difficult to reproduce, it will be impossible to diagnose and repair.

Howdy!

Yep. That is what the mechanics said. Seems like the most obvious thing.

I did consider it may have been my ScanGague - but it shouldn't be that.

My Cherokee had only 100 or so miles on it when mine went into limp mode. Shut it down went inside did some stuff. Came out and it was like nothing was wrong. Dealer scanned it and it was a computer communication error. That was 25,000 miles ago and not a single problem since.

Note: if you remove or disconnect the battery, you'll get a check engine light. Probably not related to your original issue!

Kind-of both good and bad news huh OP?

Things like this bother the **** out of me. We use our Jeeps as intended. The thought that I could be deep in the back-country and have the Jeep shutdown like this is terrifying. Especially since 4WD is often "unavailable" when it happens. One would think that a default would be to engage all the drive wheels equally. At least then you would have a fighting chance of limping out of where ever you are. I think Jeep sometimes forgets not every vehicle is on pavement with a shop around the corner. :(
