Downstream P2098 P2096

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Jeep Cherokee (2014 Limited), the check engine light is run with my car and I have Downstream P2098 P2096, I go to the maintenance they connected the car by wi-tech software and turn off the check engine light but after three hours it comes back to turn on.
Please is there any idea for the reason?

Actually there is a problem that they negleted to fix. Many times a error light will clear itself, such as a gas cap left open. But when the problem is a real problem it will come back on.
Run an internet search on those error codes and you will even find some u-tube videos on the subjct.

If you are still in the 3/36 window you should be covered unless its emissions related then its longer.
Good Luck in your resolution.

Hi adelkoki,

It may be beneficial for you to reach back out to your Jeep dealership and have them re-diagnose your vehicle. If you need any assistance setting up an appointment, please let me know.

P2098 and P2096 are both for after catalyst fuel trim too lean. One code is for bank 1 and one code is for bank 2. Running lean can cause issues long term so I would get a handle on the issue sooner than later as suggested.

Because it is both banks I doubt it is a bad sensor. Did this happen after you got some gas? If so, how many tanks of gas have you run since? It is possible you got some bad fuel. If you have run through several tanks the troubleshooting will need to get more in depth.

One thing is for sure... just resetting ht code is bad. Your car is telling you something... Don't ignore it.
