Tranny Updates

My 14 Trailhawk only has 19k miles but is over the 3 year part of the factory warranty. I'm taking it in soon for the S55 recall. Can I expect/ask the dealer to perform the recent updates to the transmission? If they do update, can I expect any difference in the dreaded 3rd gear take off?

they will do all updates required for recall and you are still under 100,000 powertrain warranty..3 yr 36,000 was bumper to bumper.. transmission falls under powertrain..

I have a 14 TH and had the S55 Recall done for quite some time now(November).

I remember when taking off from the 3rd gear from a rolling stop. That was awful, I can only speak for myself and my experience but now I don't experience that. No it doesn't do the 3-1 but on a rolling stop it yes its still on 3rd gear. However, I can feel the car quickly shift to 2nd gear to get you going then quickly shift back to 3rd.

So instead of feeling sluggish because of the 3rd gear launch, it feels so much better when it downshifts to second then quickly shifts back to 3rd. You'll also feel smooth shifting too.

I had the S55 done last Saturday and it was the first trans update that had applied to my Nov '14 build 2015 TH.

I didn't pay attention to shifting before but I can say two things now:
1) shifts the same as I think it ever did. I never had complaintes/issues.
2) it stays in 3rd gear as I'm slowing down, verified it's in 3rd at 2mph, but when I stop it shifts to 1st.

I guess everything is ok???

Its sounds about right, yep. I have a September 2014 built 2015 model year, and also have not had any transmission problems. I've had all of the reflashes and recalls that have come out; the dealer has performed them as I have oil changes. I haven't had a reflash in months. I am doing another oil change in less than a week and am curious if there have been any new ones of late.

They told me I had 7 flashes to do and I authorized all but the Uconnect one.

I have a thread where I'm waiting to receive my paperwork so I can post what all they did.

I have an appointment for my oil change and S55 recall in a week or so. I am curious to see what (if any) flashes are required.

Mine will be 3 years old on the 22nd of March, and has been pretty flawless. I would like to have the trans shift faster to second instead of me manually selecting it at slow speeds.

I have posted my experience here: New ZF recall pending

I do not know if my problem was because it tried to accelerate from 3rd or what; by the time I flipped the stick over to see which gear it was in, it showed "2."

Interesting thing is, I did not have this experience before, and now I just experienced it after S55. (And I've always had my 2nd gear after my R01 flash.)
