Installed aFE Power CAI... it's amazing.

Yesterday i picked up my car from Salt City Auto Styling after having my tow hooks replaced and CAI installed. The engine noise is notably louder, (which i kind of like, it sounds meaner. The handling is much better, and the delay of acceleration after the pedal is pressed (there has to be a word for that, pedal response?) has almost completely dissipated. I would absolutely recommend adding this to your cherokee.

I have had mine on for about two months. Throttle response is the term you are looking for. Lag is eliminated coming off of a stop, as you say. I love the noise. I like my music loud, and I can hear the engine sucking air above my music! I took me a while to get used to it. I was constantly waiting for a Civic with a coffee can muffler to pass me! It is a deep, throaty growl; pleasing to my ear. I purchased mine from a Member on the Forum, who had only had in on for a short time when they sold their TH. Looked new when I received it. I bought the cleaning kit from aFe and cleaned the filter before installing it. Took about an hour to install. Best $200 I have spent on my TH, so far. I'm not noticing any gain in mpgs.

I've never noticed any throttle lag with my V6. Is yours the V6 or the I4?

Are you using the prefilter? I always used them on my quads, but we rode them in the sand and in the woods with a lot of fine dust.

I have no idea if it will have a dramatic effect on the MPG, but I've heard some people talking about how it has affected theirs.

I noticed severe throttle lag, but I've taken it to the dealer and they checked on her and said everything was working as it was supposed to. I'm about to put 32's on and I'm hoping it doesn't completely destroy the throttle response I've gained. I'm a bit worried about that, but mostly concerned the MPG I'm going to lose. No clue how much I'll lose

I've had mine on for over 14 months on the V6 with the raincoat like pre-filter. No loss in mpg. I enjoyed the growl as well but now it's been so long I don't really hear it at all unless I stomp the pedal.

I too bought mine off a forum member who was parting out their TH. I definitely thing that the $180-$200 is well spent. Considering people spend $1000+ on exhausts just for the sound. Plus it does give a noticeable response.

Without a before and after that is difficult to gauge but quite noticeable after. I have the dry element and it's so easy to remove and vacuum out monthly or every other.

I ran K&N air filters in my vehicles for years and motorcycles as well. I never noticed any drop in mileage I just liked the ease of maintenance.

Enjoy and congrats.

BTW if you really enjoy your stereo, swap out your factory speakers and of course headlamps. 2 of my favorite modifications that aren't budget breakers but oh so sweet.

I've got the 9 speaker system and i love it. I would be interested but at the same time, i don't know much about speakers and what kind would be better. Also not sure if they would affect the built in system to control the speakers

My biggest concern for this mod is the dust intake. The 3.6L Pentastar has some issues with oil consumption (some so bad engines need to be replaced) caused by CAI use in dusty environments. This said, I have a RIPP superchargers one on the JKU but this was largely to clear the hydraulic assist reservoir.

To the OP.... glad you are happy! That's all that really matters.
