I've mentioned this in other threads... but IMO the Cherokee is VERY inefficient and it's pretty sad.

Our 6800 pound JKU with 37" tires, 5.13 gears, and box shape gets only 1 MPG less on the same trip (only one week apart and similar weather) driven the same speed. If you are wondering, this is ~16-17 MPG in the JKU and 17-18 in our Trailhawk.

Now, the KL does do better on a rural drive where we stay around 60 MPH. Here the JKU only improves about 0.5-1 MPG where the KL jumps nearly 5 MPG.

'15 Limited V6 ADI, about 9000 miles on it. I get 16-17 overall (95% city) and on the highway get about 24-25. Didn't buy it for the MPG so I don't care!

They are not all that way. Two years on ours and highway 65-70mph is always 29-31 mpg and local driving rural/small town around 23-24.

Are you actually measuring or are you trusting the Jeep's calculations? V6 or 4-Banger?

No matter how you shake a stick at it, the KL should do better... My company car has a larger V6, 3 less speeds in the transmission, weighs over 1k pounds more, and regularly pulls vastly better MPG (and this is with lots of idle time).
