I had whole bunches of problems with mine most of which were fixed under the pre-loved warranty. However, when rhey weren't they cost a small fortune. At 103k I had a major issue begin to develop and that's when I elected to begin looking for a new car.

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed/upset that Chrylser's poor handling of the situation is what's driving you away, not necessarily the vehicle. If they'd have been reasonable and replaced your car in the beginning with one just like it that didn't have any issues, you'd be driving around happy. (Ideally.) I see you mentioning these other brands, and they're all fine and stuff, but it's just a bummer that you found everything you wanted in the Jeep and at a great price with good brand value, and to have this experience is pretty sh!t. A happy Jeep owner can sell a new Jeep far better than any of Chrylser's ads or salesmen.. stupid of them not to have done what would have been reasonable to get you on the road and happy.

Best of luck finding a replacement, and if you do, please let us know what you choose. Some pictures would be nice too, to see what you ended up with that has comparable features. But that's your call obviously, just a thought. Take care mate. Glad this all worked out for you, just not glad you don't and didn't get to enjoy your Jeep like you deserved.

I finally got the news today from my lawyer that Chrysler has agreed to take my car back and refund me every penny I've spent on acquiring the vehicle; my down payment, taxes, registration fees, and all of my monthly payments. I am not happy that I had to resort to 3rd parties to get the job done, but it became necessary and it was well worth it because now I don't have to deal with the safety issues and inconveniences associated with my vehicle.

As I've said before in other threads, it's a shame Chrysler handled this case so poorly, from getting the run around, to ignoring my concerns for safety. Had they just listened from the beginning I'd be more than happy to do business with them again, but since they dropped the ball, I'll take back my money and run.

With that said, I probably won't be around much on this forum anymore since the Jeep will soon be out of my hands. I'll be around a bit to address anyone else's questions or concerns regarding the transmission issues. I will also have some aftermarket parts available for sale including OEM all-weather rubber slush floor mats, Whispbar roof rails, Canvasback cargo liner, HID headlight kit, etc. I'll make separate posts for the items for sale.

To those experiencing reoccuring problems with your transmission or anything else that affects the way the car performs and your safety, don't take "no" for an answer. Put up a fight until you reach your goal.
@Dundas- I can't begin to tell you how happy I am for you. We both went through so much, you more than I. It is a shame that Chrysler did not resolve this in a better manner than they did. I do believe that your dealership should have taken more interest in your problem's as mine did for me. It would have made thing's much easier across the board. I've had my replacement for a little over a week now and there is no comparison to a Cherokee that is healthy as to one that was sick like you and I both had to begin with. Whatever you choose in the near future I hope you have all the best of luck with. Enjoy it in good health and happiness. It has been a pleasure sharing our hard times and hope that we might only be able to share the good in the future. Please take care and be good.

Exactly. If only Chrysler had handled the situation better instead of brushing it off, I'd be more than happy to get into another Jeep. Every car company has their fair share of lemons... they should deal with them accordingly and cut to the chase, especially considering that the Jeep is a brand new model with a brand new transmission. Customer service plays a huge part in my car buying decisions, and unfortunately, Chrysler's handling of this situation totally killed it for me and do not wish to deal with them again. Also seeing on this forum and others that many people are having transmission problems leads me to think that a lot more work needs to be done, and I simply wouldn't want to risk getting stuck with another dud.

Thanks

I honestly think the latest dealership did a good job at handling the situation. It was corporate who blocked them from being able to do anything as corporate had the final say in everything pertaining to my vehicle and what the service department could do on it. The dealership agreed with everything I had to say, its just they couldn't do anything about it because the problem was then out of their hands. Taking the car to a dealership I didnt buy the car from makes it more difficult to since that initial customer relationship wasn't there. Had I been able to take it to the dealership I bought it from in California, I am sure they would have had more say in what to do, but since Im living in a new state, doing that is now impossible. I am just glad of the outcome in all of this and will move forward

I am glad that you work your case out!

In my case, Chrysler agreed to give me a replacement at no cost to me, except the MSRP difference plus tax. I decided to stay with the Jeep Cherokee because it is a great vehicle.

Does Chrysler have a competent and responsible network of dealerships? Clearly not. Am I going to stay with Jeep for my next vehicle? I don't know. Am I going to limit my range of choices by boycotting Chrysler products? Yes. I wouldn't let this event haunt me forever. I'll move on. I'll always choose a vehicle I love.

Good luck for your adventure with your coming new vehicle!

Glad your issue was resolved!

I am about to bring mine in for its first service, and it has a laundry list of issues at 8k miles:

Creaks and rattles in the interior
Squealing under the vehicle at 20mph or lower
Speakers rattle
Uconnect sometimes glitches (applied the first update but can't get the newest to flash)

And the worst: when cruising down a level highway at 60mph the transmission shifts to a high enough gear to make my rpm go to 1000... almost feels like its stalling... and have to really PUNCH the gas to get it out of that rut.

Good luck with the interior creak and rattle noises, along with the speaker rattles. I had these issues as well and brought them up to my service adviser the day after i first got my vehicle. They looked at everything and tried fixing all the noises, but when they took things apart to fix the noises, new ones would come up. Basically, everything that's done at the factory in terms of trim pieces is the best its going to get. Once service starts taking apart your car to find the cause of the noises, parts will get loose and new noises will arise. I brought my car in like 5 times for rattling noises, each time was right after one noise was fixed and another came up. To this day I still have rattle noises that the service guys haven't been able to pinpoint down and its been almost 6 months since I got the car.

As for the speakers, they looked at it once and said everything was fastened the way its supposed to be. Apparently the door panels aren't engineered to handle "bassy" music and they will rattle. I called Jeep customer care about this and asked that they install some sort of sound insulation to help absorb the rattles and they said no. I fought this issue with the GM at the dealership I bought it at and he too said no and that I shouldnt be playing loud bass music or music at high volume, which I never do.

well the final papers have been issued to me. The total attorney's fees out of my pocket is $1000, which is better than I thought it would be. Chrysler LLC has decided to cover the rest of the attorney's fees. I will be getting everything I've paid for thus far back, minus ~$200 for the usage fee up until the first documented incident. Overall I am very satisfied with the outcome of this ordeal. Shame on Chrysler for not siding with me from the get go. They ended up losing more money over it, but I'm sure it's just chump change to them in the realm of things.

I'll be posting things for sale from my Jeep in the coming weeks.
