The main reason to reprogram is because you have non-stock tires. Correcting the speedometer and shift points is very important. I've been running BFG KO2 LT235/80R17 tires for 10K+ miles. Originally, the shifting was off and frequently the tranny would select 6th gear for highway. Major mpg drop. Now, it appears to have retrained itself and selects 7th with the occasional 8th. Averaging 19-20 mpg over the last 10 tank fulls. It would be nice to get back to the 25-26 mpg I had with stock tires.

Other bells and whistles that come with a programmer may help with the mpg. Resetting the TPMS to 15-20 psi is nice but not necessary. That said, I'd drop $400(ish) for one.

My Jeep dealer cannot do the programming because they have black box software that does not let them go outside of factory options. They encouraged me a get an after market programmer. If only they existed. Its been 3 years since the KL has been out you'd think somebody would be willing. Most shops still think of the KL as a mall cruiser. I say ok if you have a sport, but I call BS when it comes to the TH package. That's been proven time and time again.

Heading down to Moab to do the Poison Spider - Golden Crack - Gold Bar Rim link up. Anyone interested?
When? I'm always up for a trip down. If I'm not working.

If I go down the weekend of the first it means Moab three weekends in a row... Sounds good to me! I'll only be able to do Friday night to Sunday night. By the way I'm just at the mouth of Weber canyon down in Uintah

A tune to correct for tire size would be great.

A RIPP supercharger kit would be awesome. If RIPP can make a kit the Cherokee can reliably handle like they have with other Jeeps I might be interested. Not looking for something super fast, but a bit more power would be nice.

Just found this, I'm going to contact them for more info, but if you click on the "view compatible vehicles" it lists the 15 and 16 3.2 if someone wants to give it a try.

Wonder why it only lists the 15 and 16, and not the 14 because I don't think there are any real differences between the model years, especially on the engine side of things.

I received a response from Jet, they said that the 14 models have multiple versions of programming, so their power modules don't work with our vehicles unfortunately. The 15s and 16s sound like they are good to go though, so anyone else can try them and let us know what we are missing out on. This is probably the root of the issue I had with trying to get a tune from RPM motorsports working.

If there are different versions of the programming, then I would imagine you could get around that by doing a custom tune that is tailored to your own vehicle rather than a standard one. Obviously, it'd be more expensive, but I would think it could be done.
