Cruise Control Issues?

Hey Guys,
I take my Cherokee to the mountains ALOT! So when I set my cruise control to 90km, if Iam going down a hill, the speed goes up 20km or more before my Cruise Control kicks in...is this normal?

Thanks
Sky

Are you sure it's at 20kmh and not 40kmh? ....This is from the OM:

ELECTRONIC SPEED CONTROL — IF EQUIPPED
When engaged, the Electronic Speed Control takes over
accelerator operations at speeds greater than 25 mph
(40 km/h).

So if it's at 40 then I'd say "yes"...it's normal. If it's really 20 then I don't know. I use ACC so I've never tested the exact scenario but I will today if I have the chance.

Cruise controls do not brake your car going downhill, your right foot and brain must be engaged to brake your car!

Not true, on my TH with the tech package both the adaptive CC and normal CC will apply the brakes when going downhill . . . I wish it wouldn't apply the brakes and let it coast for fuel efficiency reasons though.

There's another thread discussing this... Only vehicles with the tech package will use the brakes to decel when the vehicle is overspeed. Base cruise on non-ACC vehicles will only coast the throttle and eventually command a downshift for additional engine braking. It seems the threshold for the downshift is pretty high though.

I have the Tech package..and yes I DO use my BRAIN and My foot to slow the vehicle down, but when in the mountains, I do NOT want to burn out my brakes by applying them all the time. My last car slowed the vehicle down, and it didnt have any fancy tech package to it!

With the ACC (provided you're using it and not accidentally engaging the standard cruise) +/- 20km/h is NOT normal. In ACC, mine keeps me within 5km/h of setpoint provided there is no one in front slowing me down. It also cuts back in corners (after ?degrees of steering wheel input).

Am I misreading the question? It sounds to me that the OP is asking about the point at which the car ACCELERATES not brakes?!

What did I miss here....
