Not 100% sure but I think it sounded like that. It hasn't been that long you'd think the sound would have stayed in my memory.

There was some shuffling noise in the mp3. That is me moving cell phone around. This was originally video I converted to mp3. The problem was the intermittent nature of the noise. This makes it difficult for the dealer to diagnose. First fix was lots of sound proof tape. This changed the pitch and duration of the problem. Mp3 I posted is the original sound before sound proof tape. Ours would most commonly make the sound while gently rolling through 35mph on a flat surface.

Here is a list of parts needed for the repair

After going to the dealer a few times I took video. Uploaded the video to a private YouTube account for the dealer. Then converted to mp3. Placed both the video mp4 and audio mp3 on a memory stick for dealer tech to review/compare. After replacing the parts previously listed the vehicle is now quiet. I also played the video for the check in person on my phone.

I have the same whistle type noise as well. Only happens in more extreme cold temps(-20...-40F)and goes away after driving around for a while. Its not the motor being cold as I can let the jeep warm up all the way to normal operating temp and it's still starts when driving,it's in the drive end of things in my opinion. It's rather annoying and bothers me in the fact that I think something's wrong with my new vehicle. I live in northern Manitoba so it remains these temps all winter long so it's a daily occurrence for me. I've tried to tell my dealer here this is what they tell me "many strange things happen to vehicles in cold temps" "would you like to move at 50km hr in -20...-40F" "that's just the way it is"
So I am glad to see other dealers trying to help you guys.
If I'm reading things correctly after those parts were swapped, the noise is gone? wcjeep?

Correct. Zero noise. Problem was the noise was intermittent. Took awhile for dealer to verify the noise.

Our noise was definitely not the Idler pulley. Ours was Hvac. When they finally replaced most of the dash hvac the noise went away.

I don't think the noise being described is the idler pulley. Mine has started making the noise too. Vehicle has to be cold with the outside temp generally colder than -15C. Jeep has to be moving. I know with mine, as the Jeep warms up, you have to go faster before the noise starts up and eventually stops. The noise will go away when coasting, but is there on accel and while cruising. To me it sounds like it coming from the frt end, possible in the transfer case. Been crazy busy at work this week, but hopefully I will be able to sneak it in Friday and put it up on the hoist and take a peek.
