Odd whine when travelling at speed

Hi there - wondering if anyone else has experienced this sort of issue. When driving down the road and I get to about 35kmh (~20mph) I can hear what I would describe as a whine or high pitched howl. It seems to go away as I get closer to 60kmh (~35mph).

It doesn't vary in intensity based on rpm or vehicle speed...it just kind of shows up and then gradually goes away. Hoping to get it into the shop in the next week or so to have dealership take a look but thought I would see if anyone else has had this.

Have not. Is there anything on the exterior that would affect air travel over body of car?

Nope - nothing attached to roof rails or anything like that. Maybe I'll take a closer look to see if there is any snow plugging up lower front grille openings. Doesn't sound like it's coming from the front of the vehicle though.

Hey, I am on Alberta too. Mine does the same thing when the cold is extreme. I think it come from the metal in the hub area spinning. It goes away all spring summer and fall. and then when we get into the -30c area it returns. I never seen an ill effects from it. learned to live with. Goes away when the car warms up.

Is it coming from the underneath rear of the vehicle? Maybe near the rear axle? Does it sound like a high pitched whistle maybe?

I thought it was just me being sensitive. It does it in Auto, Snow, 4LO and with the rear locker on. I notice it when the vehicle is cold...and it is our normally chilly temps outside...but it does go away after stuff warms up.

I have yet to find what gear oil or fluid they are running in our differentials. I know the tranny uses some special Mopar fluid.

I was finally able to fit my Jeep into my garage to let it warm up a bit on Sunday night and again last night. There was no trace of the noise so I am going to chalk it up as being related to cold for now.

If it comes back I'll take it into the dealership for analysis but for now it seems ok.

Mine had developed a 'whine' as well. I'm pretty sure it was from dirt from off-roading getting into the engine area. It seems to have gone away after I pressure washed the engine bay a few times (with engine running).

I have the very same issue. Please post updates if you bring it to the dealer.

Thanks!
