Hitch Part - What's the difference between 82213349AB and 82213349AC

Mopar says the 82213349AC replaces the 82213349AB.

Does anyone know if there is a functional, finish, or installtion difference between the two or is the part number change just something internal to how they keep track of this stuff?

@JeepCares would know maybe?

The AB can be had about $10-20 cheaper than then AC

When the last letter changes in a Mopar part number, it is a minor change: maybe different fasteners, this being a hitch, maybe a different run (production cycle) of the product. If the second from last letter changes, something more important has changed.

I have an ********AC sitting in my living room got beat up on the way here lost a bunch of paint.
Rockauto fail shipped it with no packing of any sort.

just in a box all the loose pieces were flying around in the box too.. what was left of the box.

Its too beefy to get more than surface scratches.

Anyone near NE ohio need one.. it would be ok with about 15mins of sanding and spraypainting.

Not shipping it.

Scrap value is aprox $6

Wish we were closer. I'd definitely take it. I've been looking for one, just to have a step to get onto the Gobi ladder.

I don't need a pretty one, or even one capable of towing...just enough to hold my *** while I step up.

Curious, what do you think it would cost to ship it to Northern VA or Western MD?

Hey CptCrackers,

@dhh3 gave a pretty good run down. For this particular part, the stamped in load rating was removed from the chain plate. No change to the fit, form, or function of the part.

NOT IN NEED OF THIS ITEM: Just curious If it is simply scratched up and (there is not much that can be damaged on it from shipping) why is sitting in your house and not gracing the rear of your Jeep?

I purchased from rock auto. they credited me in full and didnt want it returned.

I didnt know my dealer was running a huge special on accessories for newly purchased vehicles.

I bought one from the dealer and had it and the wiring harness installed.

The dealer sourced hitch was only 5$ more.

I was org. going to install myself but the winter weather and my bad wrist was acting up I decided to have them install it. Vs just installing the wiring.

My only guess is that it is a non functional part change. I have found that on the KL oil filters being changed from AA to AB. Same filter that's Ok for the Cherokee.
Does cause a problem with places Like Amazon when you use their "does it fit" check.
But I always double check and have yet to find where the AB made any difference.
The cheaper price might be just clearing out old stock to avoid confusion.
If it is "replaces" then it does not really matter as they both will meet OEM requirements.
