Rear mounted winch?

I did not know such a thing existed untill I saw a video about it. For someone who wants something portable, is it an alternative? Any downsides at all? Thanks

there are remote-mount winches that attach onto your trailer hitch for portability. there is also a member that had a rear winch welded to his car, but he is...um...indisposed at the moment.

IIRC, doesn't @Len1304 have a rear mounted winch in his arsenal?

Can you tell us what you do with it, how it performs, brand, specs, pictures etc. Thanks.

I've got an old Warn M8000i multi mount winch. Works just fine. I've used it a few times without problems. The thing you have to remember about receiver mount winches is that you have to do a straight pull or you risk bending the hitch. The hard part is if you don't do a wireless setup you have to run the winch controller through the jeep so you can press the throttle.

Cool. With a remote...could you run it off a size 31 deep cycle in the hatch area?
