Hitch and Wiring

New to forum. I recently purchased a '17 Trailhawk. 3.2L. It did not come with a tow package.
I am now looking to add a receiver and wiring. The dealer has quoted $1500 (at ordering time, the option is $750 for the tow package). Has anyone gone with aftermarket for a receiver and wiring? Not sure if bumper will have to be cut. I only plan using the hitch for bike racks and pulling a 5' x 8' open trailer with yard trimmings, etc.

I don't think you have to cut anything since you are a TH.

As far as wiring. Curt 56208, cost about $50.
Hopkins 40985 to plug into wiring connector. $20
Hopkins 40975 to plug into the factory hitch. $40

I believe most/all of the aftermarket hitches will be below-bumper. The OEM hitch exits through the bumper. If you will be 4-wheeling, below-bumper will affect your departure angle and could get you hung up in places.

Keep in mind that other than factory-original/factory-installed (not dealer, even if OEM) hitch, you are limited to 2,000lbs towing.
