My KL is a 2014 Limited diesel and now and then the exhaust regeneration system kicks in, which is what it should do. However, everytime it does I can really smell exhaust fumes in the cabin. I do know it is during the process because whenever I get the smell I go into the EVIC under the Stop/Start menu and can see the following message:
Stop/Start
Unavailable
Exhaust System
Regeneration
in Process
Fumes never, ever enters the cabin at other times. Anyone els with a diese that have experienced this?
Besides this I love the car, no tranny issues, I have seen the 9th gear,I have tried it off-road during the Jeep Academy so I know its capabilities. It is just great!
You are right, that smell should not come into the cabin. Except You are driving in reverse gear. I heared same story one time before, must be in our German forum. As I remember, a leaking gasket caused the problem and had to be replaced.
Hello
I'm also driving here in paris a KL Cherokee Limited 170. And I'm too very upset by the burned fuel smells that enters into the car (closed windows and roof) when the DPF is in regenerating process. I told to my dealer, but as FCA sold only 800 cars for France in 2014, he never heard of this before; and I think he thought I was paranoid and not serious in my story telling.
Fortuneltly we're at least 2 guys in Europe encountering this problem. I've got 3 DPF regenerations during the 10000 driven kms.
My Uncle is having the same problem with fumes in the cab when exhaust regeneration is in progress - did you find out what the cause of the problem was?
Hi have a KL diesel and haven't experienced any issues with smells as explained. I noticed while re gen I I shut the motor off and it appeared to continue running ( not the motor). I went out side a few minutes later and it was shut off.
So far the only thing I notice is the it ideals different while is carrying out the re gen.
I've just got the 2.0d Limited which is 1 year old and noticed the stop/start did not kick in. I saw in the supervision cluster that this exhaust re-generation was happening and I noticed the exhaust fume smells in the cabin!

I haven't detect any smell when it's regenerating. My KL has 39,000 so many cycles has been made and never smell anything.
When it's doing the start/stop doesn't work but I use my car on road only, no city so no problem.
I'm having the same issue on 2014 Grand Cherokee. Has anyone found a solution to this issue?
