How to remove chrome trim????

I recently bought a 2015 cherokee latitude and it has the chrome trim around the windows, I bought plasti dip and want to paint them but I am not positive how to take them off and not brake them, has anyone done this yet and can just give me a run down on how to take them off nicely please?

This video will explain how to do it. Seems pretty easy, I plan to do mine also once it warms up a little.

Just mask off the trim and spray the plasti dip on the chrome. Use about 4 coats, minimum.

I wouldn't do that.... I have a feeling even if they were removable, you would run the risk of breaking them regardless. And although Plasti-Dip is great, you can't really do touch-up.

A few years back when I had an Audi A4 the trim was riveted in. Because I had the same exact idea. And the only Audi owners that did it, were swapping their trim for the stock black trim that came with the Titianium edition, I.e. They didn't really care if they broke the old stuff.

But what you should be able to do (and I am sure with some google help you will find a how-to) is use matte black vinyl to cover it. I did it to my Audi and it lasted for at least 3 years (traded it back to the Audi dealer with it still on), and unless you knew what you were looking for you could not tell it wasn't stock. Best part about it is that it is removable.

If you don't want to do it yourself I am sure a sign, vinyl, etc.... shop would be more than happy to. One of my buddies owns a shop that does clear car bras, and full wraps. So he did mine (first time he did it) and now sells it as a service. Just posted on his FB page doing it to some new Merc.

I would like to do the same think but I am afraid to try. Usually when something like that comes off it's never the same getting it back on ! I bet there are some sort of metal clips on the back side of the trim.

From what I understand, you don't remove them, you plasti dip while on your car. Search dip your car on YouTube, lots of tutorials.
