Found out that oempartsco is able to create a volume dial for us non SWC/HVAC controlled units. They made a great mod for the Ram RA 3/4 that works perfectly. I appreciate you posting this info. Will be ordering once I get the final #s from them.

Thats great news. I also believe I read somewhere, they have patents pending on those custom bezels. I also saw OregonCherokee is going to be calling dealers to get a price quote for the unlock, and software flash. It's cool that this is a do-able mod. I saw it's very popular on the ram forums.

Ask the dealer service department if they have the ra3/4 sales code available for your vehicle before you do this mod. They have the ra4 for me, but not the ra3. I will keep you posted.

Good to know. I hope it is simply a request they sent to Chrysler and then flash with new code. OEMparts has everything gathered and ready to ship shortly, have a few Jeep dealers in Portland, should be able to find at least one that can flash the RA3.

Ok, so there was no RA3 sales code available for my cherokee. The dealer tried it with the available RA4 sales code, and it was a no go. So to sum it up, I currently have the RA4 software running in the jeep. I found a used RA4 on ebay for what I paid for the RA3, so I ordered it. Gunna have a newish RA4 by mid next week. If anyone goes to the dealer, and they have the available RA3 sales code for their VIN, send me a PM, and we can talk about the RA3 I no longer need.

What a long day...

Yeah, make sure they have the sales code available for your VIN first. I found out the hard way. Still had a great experience at the dealer though.

If I'm understanding you correctly, there are no compatible RA3 codes that exist that would work?

There was not one for my VIN, but the RA4 was available, so thats what I got, now just waiting on the new head unit. I would still check at the dealer, before you put your order through. The way I saw it done, my service advisor opened up a program that listed the sales codes for my VIN. The dealer clicked the RA4 code, and applied it. Next the technician loaded it onto my cherokee through the OBD2 port I assume. Alot of variables with this project.
