How NOT to scratch spare wheel removing it

Just changed to the spare wheel to see if it had a pressure sensor in it and while trying to remove it in the tight space I scratched it...

Since I dont want to do that to the alloy when I fit it to the spare I was looking for options on the spare hold down. I was not overly keen on leaving it loose as I dont want it flying around in the event of an accident so I removed the stud (5.5mm socket) and was going to look for a bolt to replace it.

Once I pulled it out I looked and the derrr moment hit me and I simply reversed it and screwed the thumb screw onto the bottom end and put it back in upside down. No long stud to damage the rim when trying to get it in/out.

Cheers, Dave.
