Power liftgate recall

http://allparnews.com/index.php/2015...e-recall-29052

Seems to be the control module is not hardened from moisture damage - I assume this is somewhere near the trunk floor or behind a plastic panel?

No problems with mine, nor any recall notice, yet. Then again, I have a tendency to keep my cargo area dry... even w/o Jeep telling me that it's a good idea to do so! LOL

It's mounted vertically under the cargo area on the rear wall (inside, behind the license plate).

From what they say in this recall, you need to keep it dry back there---guess next time I am out in the rain I will put the wife back there to dry it off--

"Jeep is unaware of any related injuries or accidents. The recall only affects 2014 and 2015 Cherokees with power liftgates.

Affected customers include around a hundred thousand in the US, 13,000 in Canada, 2,400 in Mexico, and nearly 50,000 elsewhere, for a total of 164,003.

Any modules with signs of water exposure will be replaced. The company advised owners, in the meantime, to keep their cargo areas dry.

Follow these topics: All Mopars

2017 Trailhawk L Plus 4 bX4,Rhino exterior,Power 8 way drivers seat, Willys in windshidel,Cold Weather Group, Comfort/Convenience Group,Trailer Tow Group, 3.2 -Liter V6, Black Hood Decal , Uconnect 8.4 , Safety Tech Group, Leather Interior Group, Ventilated/Memory seat Group,Navigation. No hole in roof.

With this wording, I am wondering if this is for all of the designated Cherokees with power liftgates, or just those with "signs of water exposure"?

Any units that have water damage will be repalced, and supposedly everyone else will get a "water shield" to prevent future water damage.

Mods: Gobi Rack and Ladder; Interior/Exterior LED upgrade; Xenon-Depot No Resistor HIDs; Hazard Sky Fabrications Lift Kit

Has this got a "Rxx" number? Mines in the dealer tomorrow (again) so worth seeing if they can do it at the same time.
