Makes you wonder how much they factor in the build cost of a new car when they will know there will have so many recalls .

Scratch what I said in post #8 above. One year and 10 months is too long to announce about a known problem, assuming the harness change back around 9/23/14 was due to recognized problems.

Just goes to show how the Cherokee was rushed into production, and how the owners are the guinea pigs to find the bugs. I just missed this one with a late October build, but this show's of problems they knew about and did nothing till the complaints starting coming in. Wonder what other problems they know about and are waiting to take action on.

I found this Interesting. Although we'll probably trade this in for a 17 Challenger we did stop by Chevy to look at the Impala and had our Cherokee's trade with them appraised. Now Jeep offered us 25k back in May ( I know you get more from the makes dealer) but for our trailhawk with a bit over 8k on it. Chevy offered us 21,500 two weeks ago, when I said why so much less than Jeep the salesman said these go to auction, so whatever they've been selling for at auction is what we pay, they have a bad reputation.

2015 Cherokee Trailhawk:
Eco Green, 3.2L V6, 8.4 Nav, black leather seats, ventilated seats , comfort/conv, no hood decal, 9 speakers, CD player, weathertech mats, tonneau Cover, Maximum Care lifetime warranty

If the salesman's lips were moving, he was lying. Cars depreciate and dealers will say anything to get the upper hand during negotiations.

If the reputation is so bad, why is it these KLs are all over the place and they've only been out for <3 years.

Recalls happen to every manufacturer, remember GM and ignitions, their reputation is garbage no matter how good they make a product.

Toyota made a floor mat that interfered with the pedals and forever destroyed it reliability reputation.

Subaru made great boxer 4 cylinder engines until they messed with the manufacturing of that same engine and now they are burning more oil than a diesel engines, no recall yet. But multiple members here are Subie converts because of that issue.

Ford's Ecoboost V-6 turbo get drowned in heavy rain:

So any other dealer to say "they" have a bad reputation need to look at their models and start thinking about their products and recalls.

No manufacturer is perfect, that is what a warranty is for, a vehicle without a warranty is from a builder with too much confidence and no common business sense.

"Just to be safe, FCA has decided to conduct the safety campaign, so that customers rest assured that their vehicles are fault-free. If one of the vehicles targeted by the recall does experience the fault, owners can temporarily fix the problem by restarting the engine."

Doing some thinking ahead, if this were to happen at speed, for example on an interstate in the center lane at 70 mph, we should be able to touch the brake pedal and push the Start button or turn the key, right? Or does it have to be in Park or Neutral to start?

/\ Good question....I know it has to be in Park to shut off. If you hit the button in gear, it says "shift to park" IIRC

Yeah, you're right, I really don't think there is a way to test this.

My 2014 had update after update and many failures until it got totaled and I was luckily enough to not owe a dime on it. My 2016 has had one recall for the lift gate. Otherwise it's been trouble free.
