Question Firestone/Cooper/Hankook tire recommendation

Maybe I'm not breaking the rules by putting this in the General Discussion area...

Hopefully in the near future I will be purchasing a Jeep Cherokee Sport ADI 4x4. One of the first things I want to do is swap the tires. I have searched tire sites and this forum to find the best tire choice. I have narrowed it to the following three tires in a 235 65/R17 size:

  • Hankook Dynapro AT-M
  • Firestone Destination A/T
  • Cooper Discoverer A/T3

I will mostly be on pavement so noise and ride quality would be a big factor in my choice. Off road would mainly consist of muddy clay roads. Out of the three, which would you recommend?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated! This should be my last tire question thread

I have 245/65/17 hankook dynapro atm on my cherokee latitude AD1 and theres no rubbing but its cutting it close on the front two tires. They are well mannered on the road too and they look really aggressive.

Tirerack rates the Firestone Destination A/Ts #2 on their list You might check out their website. They do not mention the other two you name although I have heard good things about the Coopers, and have had very good experience with Toyos.

I recommend the coopers. They match all of your requirements, plus I have them. I have had them for 26000 miles and the tread still looks great. Road noise not much louder than the factory tires.

I can recommend the Hankooks. My needs are similar to yours, plus they are superior to the OEM Firestones for winter driving.

Why not wear out the originals first? They really aren't bad.

I would but I wanted something more aggressive and something that would fill up the wheel well better.

Firestone Destination AT's will last a very long time

My Jeep Liberty had them for 75000 miles and still had a good amount of tread.. so worth the money and they are quite for on Highway driving.

One thing I neglected to mention with the Hankooks is that I don't think anyone yet knows what the noise levels will be like as they start to wear. The Firestone OEM's were pretty good in this respect.
