Could you elaborate on this? I am currently in the middle of the same project, if I can avoid extra running of wires it would be great

When I did mine I only had the antenna wire going to radio. I pulled headliner down in back of jeep and there was only 1 wire coming from antenna. I got with lkqonline and hot a new antenna off a salvage jeep for 35 bucks. The person I worked with was very helpful. She had the yard pull the antenna first and verify it had the 3 wires. Antenna. Gps/sirius then the one for phone which I didn't hook up.

Get an antenna splitter:

The blue end connects to the blue fm radio/gps end, the yellow end to your sattelite radio connection.

Perfect thank you! I originally installed just the satellite radio antenna into the back and the music would play but it said no signal/check antenna. Hopefully adding the splitter would correct that issue

I watched a video on how to replace a power window unit on my last vehicle and saved me big bucks over a dealer visit.

My FM antenna plug is white, not blue. Does this matter? Probably means I don't have gps included with the fm antenna...

This has been such an interesting project, to say the least. Every service manager or tech/dealer I talk to about doing the flash treats me as if I broke the law. I realize FCA advises against them doing something like this but they don't have to treat me like a criminal lol.

My 8.4A came from another Cherokee, I installed it, unlocked with the code, immediately worked great. I assume the Cherokee this unit was pulled from did not have heated seats, heated steering wheel or backup camera, which mine does have these options, and there are no controls on the radio to turn on the seats or heated wheel and the backup camera doesn't come on in reverse. Weirdly enough, if I start the Jeep via remote starter or by ignition, and it's under 40° outside the heated seats and wheel will automatically come on with the icons showing on the 8.4A screen. The only time these options have controls on the radio is when I first do a factory reset through the engineering menu. After vehicle ignition restart it goes back to Jeep. Also I had only installed the SiriusXM antenna into the curry colored port, I get full SiriusXM service, but after a few minutes of the radio being on a message comes on saying "Check antenna, see dealer for service" but yet the music still plays and I can tune channels with my steering wheel. Weird.

So I know that the radio has the capability and recognizes, to a degree, that there is heated seats, heated steering and backup camera, just needs to have the "Controls" button enabled. I'm assuming the dealer flash would take care of these issues, it's just getting a dealer to agree to do it without the constant argument. Other than not having those three features enabled on the radio, everything works beautifully

5.0 to 8.4N/RA4 Upgrade

If you take to dealer they can Flash with sales code for your Jeep and match everything up. I had opposite. Unit I got had all controls and I didn't. They did Flash and removed things I didn't have on vehicle. I had to call couple dealers to get one that would do it. And yes white is just radio. I ended up getting a antenna off salvage Jeep that has gps/XM chips. Ran another wire to radio and have both working great.

Thanks Scottb! My mind is a little more at ease knowing the flash will take care of that end of it. I figured the white FM connector was probably not the gps combo, going to order the SXM/GPS dual antenna multiplexer from infotainment I think.
Can't figure out why that 'Check Antenna , See Dealer For Service' message is displayed with No Signal on SiriusXM but the channels and music play and can be tuned.... I may try disconnecting the battery and radio and reconnect everything and see if that helps the SXM message issue...Also need to find a dealer willing to do this. Is there anything specific I should be saying to them, in regard to having them flash the radio? Glad to hear any info I can get from anyone on this project, I'm an anxious mess LOL
Thanks again!!
