Get an antenna splitter:
The blue end connects to the blue fm radio/gps end, the yellow end to your sattelite radio connection.
My FM antenna plug is white, not blue. Does this matter? Probably means I don't have gps included with the fm antenna...
This has been such an interesting project, to say the least. Every service manager or tech/dealer I talk to about doing the flash treats me as if I broke the law. I realize FCA advises against them doing something like this but they don't have to treat me like a criminal lol.
My 8.4A came from another Cherokee, I installed it, unlocked with the code, immediately worked great. I assume the Cherokee this unit was pulled from did not have heated seats, heated steering wheel or backup camera, which mine does have these options, and there are no controls on the radio to turn on the seats or heated wheel and the backup camera doesn't come on in reverse. Weirdly enough, if I start the Jeep via remote starter or by ignition, and it's under 40° outside the heated seats and wheel will automatically come on with the icons showing on the 8.4A screen. The only time these options have controls on the radio is when I first do a factory reset through the engineering menu. After vehicle ignition restart it goes back to Jeep. Also I had only installed the SiriusXM antenna into the curry colored port, I get full SiriusXM service, but after a few minutes of the radio being on a message comes on saying "Check antenna, see dealer for service" but yet the music still plays and I can tune channels with my steering wheel. Weird.
So I know that the radio has the capability and recognizes, to a degree, that there is heated seats, heated steering and backup camera, just needs to have the "Controls" button enabled. I'm assuming the dealer flash would take care of these issues, it's just getting a dealer to agree to do it without the constant argument. Other than not having those three features enabled on the radio, everything works beautifully
