I have found that replacement struts can usually be gotten at AutoZone, or O'Rielly's auto parts as cheap as ebay or amazon after you end up paying freight. I have replaced several on different vehicles over the years. They probably average $20-30 each. I would suggest you replace them in pairs anytime you do it.

So anyway I realized I'm out of warranty and anyway they look pretty easy to replace and maybe $20 a piece so even in warranty would probably just replace them myself.

Here is my problem, besides the dealership where can I get these parts, maybe aftermarket? Done some minor searching and not finding much.

Oh and I have the normal liftgate, not powered.

ETA they are $40 on the MOPAR website.
Actually from my experience cold weather is when you first notice they are failing and its your warning to replace.
Even at 3 years it is very early for them to start going. They usually last twice that at least.
I have bought mine in the past from e-bay (jeep dealer) or online parts place such as Mopar discount parts.
I would recommend you stick with Mopar OEM parts as some universal parts will not hold up as well.
The OEM part will be an exact fit, though lift-gate struts are pretty universal by size/weight supported.
Auto Zone or the like I am sure can fetch you even a high quality aftermarket lift gate struts you need.
There are u-tube videos on the install that will help.
Good luck

I agree with @Jeepster1. Avoid the cheap, off-brand struts you find at various outlets online. I thought I was saving money when I installed unbranded struts on my WJ. They lasted only a year and a half, then had to be replaced again. I ended up spending more money than if I'd paid a few dollars more for good ones. Besides OEM Mopars, you could consider Monroe. That company has 100 years of experience with shocks and struts.

You can also look below, but you'll need a lot of technical information in order to get the right ones...Length, pressure, stroke, blah, blah, blah.

My vote is to get the Mopar ones and be done with it...Let us know what you decide.

Just get the Mopar's and be done with it. If you had the power lift It's probably a $600 job at the Dealer.

OK going to get OEM the biggest reason not to is that as far as I can tell the aftermarket ones at Advance from Strong Arm (?) don't have my size.

Also it does appear that there is a left and right. They are marked L and R and have 2 different part numbers.

I'm checking some sites now and I can find the part but getting it shipped is another matter.

The MOPAR website says it can't ship them due to hazardous parts, one site wanted $20 and another wanted over $60.
