Recall S41 - Australia only I think?

This just popped up in my mail:

http://www.productsafety.gov.au/reca...-jeep-cherokee

I'm not on the VIN list but what are wheel flare spats?

Edited to add - I think it must be TH's only.

Wow, I have questioned this for ages. However the 'spats' they refer to I think are mud flaps of which there are none made for the TH so not sure what they will fit. The TH definitely does not meet Australian regulations with the amount of rear tyre showing. Would love something removeable though for off road use.

@David_Baker ; I had to look this up because I had never seen that term before (English is not my native language...). So I found that spats can mean either mud flaps or fender flares. I have small mud flaps (optional) on my Latitude. But only THs have fender flares standard, which are designed to prevent wider tires to send rocks flying in the air (tire wider than fender flare).
I just don't know what they mean by *off-road package*, but I'm sure it involves wider tires so the TH.

Because the recall mentions wheel flare spats, I'm guessing the standard TH fender flares are not wide enough for Aussie specification, and FCAA probably install wider ones at they get off the boat.

As an example, I found these from China. Mopar makes them as well (mud flaps) :

Well I guess I will find out soon, my VIN is in the list.. Yeah I googled it too and depends who answers as to it being the flares or the mudflaps. I do know that without mudflaps the TH is not legal in Aus so after reading the recall I am thinking thats wjat it is. The flares do adequately cover the tyres for our regs, unless some were fitted with non TH flares??

Dave, are we talking about the screw-on bit inside the arch?

Pic 1: This is my KL (yes, sorry it needs a clean) They are on the front but not the rear.
Pic 2: This is our Grand Cherokee. This time they are on the rear but not the front.

Yeah thats the sort of thing I am thinking. And this is the reason the Aussie regulators dont like it!

Poor tech, only 12 minutes to install those things...
