Sir Sergio stated that the Commander was a vehicle that never should have been built. Now he wants to build another one and call it Grand Wagoneer. Commander was built on GC chassis; Grand Wagoneer will be built on GC chassis. What's wrong with this picture? There are still a ton of Commanders on the road, so Jeep must have done something right.

Edit:

this is getting crazier. If you do a "Detailed spec" side by side, the "luxury" L Plus shows a rear window defroster as Not Available???

Non L gets "1234FY" AC refrigerant, and L Plus is Not Available? Like they are really putting different refrigerant in the two???

Why is Active Drive Lock not available for L plus when it has the Locker Rear Axle standard?

How much of this is real vs. website typos?
I would suspect that since the "L" is a higher line version of the Trailhawk, the reason these things are listed as Not Available is because they come standard with the package, and therefore they are not available for ordering.

That's a good point. Very good actually.

Edit, well it should still say "Standard," eh?

The L Plus package has all the options I want, like ventilated seats and keyless entry in one easy package compared to the 2016.

Mystery solved. The website is in error / poorly worded. Before reaching that conclusion, my sales manager said the mall crawler theory "could be legit given the things I've seen from Jeep over the years." That upped the tension.

When I went by to see him tonight, I mentioned I had called two dealers that have L Plus units in stock and asked if someone could physically look underneath for skid plates. He said with a VIN he could view the build sheet details in his system. I had two L Plus window stickers (and VINs) saved to my phone, so a few minutes later I was looking at their build sheet codes. Everything is there that should be. A Trailhawk is still a Trailhawk. Whew.

About that time, one of the out of town dealers called back confirming his L Plus had skid plates and Active Drive Lock.

For some reason, my order last week was not fully submitted. I didn't ask why. I just took it as a last minute chance to change colors. I jumped ship from Bright White to Light Brownstone. It was basically a toss up when I picked white last week.

The first one I noticed was no skid plates, no elec parking brake, no bat rundown protection, no oil cooler, no trans cooler. They both only get one axle ratio 4.083. Also it shows both having an optional 5,500 lbs towing and the original 4,500 tow rating. My conclusion is that the L stands for limited or luxury or even Leather and the dropped the skid plates for weight. Strange changes
Can you give a link to the website to build your own 2017 Cherokee? On the Jeep.com website it's still build a 2016 Cherokee.

Also why did fuel econ go down for 2017 on Trailhawk (18/24/21)? Also showing Midgrade gas on FuelEcon.gov
Can someone confirm this and that the tow rating went up to 5500 lbs???

I'm one that errantly posted about the tow rating. It appears to still be 4500.

I forgot to mention that in the build sheets (Options Report) my dealer showed me for two L Plus VINs, the axle ratio listed is the same ole 3.517. It appears that even the stated axle ratio on Jeep.com is wrong for the V6.

Thanks! The remaining item is the decrease in Fuel Econ ratings but it is more inline of what I actually get.
