id call the chrysler warranty company and not go by what the dealer says. if the button isnt cover by max care they are saying its a trim piece. if the shifter broke it should be covered.

I have a 2014 and my button broke off long ago. I used gorilla glue and it has stayed on ever since.

I think if you get it replaced it will only break off again because the design is flawed.

My button broke off about 4 months ago. I replaced the part, at a cost of $125+. If it happens again, I will just use gorilla glue to glue it back on.

@JeepCares - any insight on this one? Seems like this is an integral part to the power train since you can't move it out of (or into) P w/o the button...

2015 Trailhawk
3.2 V6; Cherry Red; 17" Black Wheels; Black Interior; Ventilated Cow Seat; Trailer Tow Grp; Cold WX Grp; Tech Grp; Safety Grp; Comfort Grp; Pano Sunroof; Uconnect 8.4AN; 9x Speakers; and a Partridge in a Pear Tree!
Added: RRO Step-Rails; Rage Crossbars; Rage Stingray low profile roof cargo basket
Planned: Brush Guard w/ Winch (if I can de-conflict tech & airbags)

This looks like it may be considered a trim piece, unfortunately, but I understand the question of it being a "powertrain" component as well. I'll check in with our Warranty team and get clarification.

Hey Rje420247,

Did you by any chance get an estimate in writing from your dealership that includes the part number needed in the replacement. My warranty team wants to check that against your warranty, so if you can PM your VIN, mileage, and then the part number if you have it, I would like to look into this more!

I can stop by the dealer and get it... I don't have the part number but they did say 141 dollar to buy the whole shift assembly since you can't replace just the button

We can search for it here, just thought I would ask if you had it handy--please still send over your info when you have a chance and I will dig further.

Mine randomly popped off today as well. I thought I saw a thread about it a few days ago, so came to read the other responses. I thought about gluing it on, but thought it looked like it was designed to "pop off" without breaking if needed. If I glue it on, there will be no turning back. Are we sure there would be no need to pop it off in the future to work on the shifter or anything? If nothing else, Jeep needs to start using a different part on future cars, since this one obviously is flawed. @JeepCares
